unfortunately not. you can however use the giants/last generation of skylanders characters on the new portal/game... but not vice versa.

No, the older portals will not work with the Swap Force figures. They had to implement newer tech in order for the portal to read the new configurations.

no because each portal in the starter sets is need for each adventure new portals came with each starter sets but of course I haven't tried using the older portals because I just use the new portal that comes with the new adventure disk if you buy one you get the other why risk it use the newer one.

No it does not. That is why everyone is scrambling to get the new Swap Force. The new Swap Force figures are a different weight which is what the portals use to know which figure is on it. Since the original Skylanders portals were not built for this, they cannot be used. However, all of the "old" Skylanders can be used on the new Skylanders Swap Force Portal.

Does the portal from the original Skylanders work with the Swap Force figures?

I believe you have to use the portal that came with this game (the other portals don't work) With this game one is able to use all the skylanders (from the Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure/Skylanders Giants)

When you first buy the game it's really fun because you just start swapping the tops and bottoms. The Giants still work with it.

Bought this for my grandson's 5th birthday. Both he and his 8-year-old sister would play it all the time if their parents didn't put on some limits. They love it. The 8-year-old understands completely how to play. The 5-year-old had a little trouble at first.

Great additiion to Wii

This is another great Skylander game. My 9 year old son loves it.

The characters are good, the effects and story line are getting better, and most importantly you can still use all the previous characters with this set. Yea!

i bought this game for my 8 year old and he loved it, the game is fun and it come with different characters so he is able to swish character . But it wasn't that challenging so we bought him the swap team in addition to the swap force. i will recommend swap force for children between 4 to 7 years old.

Kids just love the skylanders but the portal is a little flimsy. Might not be very good for smaller children seems like it would be very easy to break.

We opened Santa's present, Swapforce, plugged it in and the portal wouldn't recognize the system. Fail! We had to go back to customer service and stand in line, again. Speaking of customer service. Why on earth would you make a customer that ordered site to store stand in the customer service line? That is so painful. The whole reason for shopping online is convenience. I tried to ship the item home but that wasn't an option. Why? That makes no sense. And to then go to the store and have to stand in the customer service line is punishment. Next year, with all of Wal-Mart's resources, you should consider having a separate line or area for customers to pick up site to store. Finally, after standing in line, again, we were able to 'swap' out the bad unit for one that works. The boys are thrilled. The parents, not so much.

Kids love it!

Very disappointed that this bundle came with duplicate characters. The picture on the box clearly shows a bundle of 3 characters along with a separate Grim Creeper. We got the bundle of three and then ANOTHER Star Strike. What's the point of buying a bundle if you're just going to include dupes? FAIL, Walmart.
