Just got this as present from brother inlaw who knows SKIL man now.  I needed it to sand down joints on sub floor to  laminate floor.
Did a great job in little time, took a while to work out why light  on and off as never read supplied manual.
My Bad. Just read few  of other   feedbacks, hope I don't run   into  these issues  as its a present with no receipt.

A good little mill! Helped us sand our deck in prep for new paint this year. Worked excellent. Easy to Load. The dust collector is so so, but in general we have been very happy with it. So far, i can happily say we would buy it over again and that's the most important bit of feedback I can give..,,No regret :-)

For small homework

The Skil 7510-01 as it is called on the box I bought, comes with what they claim to be a dust collection filter and box. This however is more of a misnomer, the collector is less than adequate and leaks, often doing exactly opposite of what they claim. Around about the outlet where the dust collector plugs in it tends to spray a fine, light mist or jet of dust, the collector hardly ever fills up or even accumulates any dust. I used the sander for nearly 4 hours and only had a tablespoon of dust to show.
Watching it I became interested in where my dust was, so I saw dust particles freely bypassing the collection box, and scooting right out the back and onto my nice clean floor.
I can only assume the issue is one of suction, or lack of it, expulsion of dust into the collection box is relative to what doesn't get collected.

The pressure tracking lights, this is a really big mystery to me, I tried to read the manual, it doesn't say a whole lot, something along the lines of pressure and how to sand, never can figure out if the pressure means my finger on the trigger or my weight on the machine. The machine always and I mean ALWAYS while running, ends up going to red, no matter the speed, or pressure I place on it.

Vacuum port, This is the one saving grace of this machine I have to say. I can immediately hook up my hose from the model I have and click on the power and the vacuum immediately suctions what dust comes out. However, as a drawback the extra and added noise of both machines drives me nuts.
Sound, it is not all that quiet to start off, but it is less noisy than my shop vac so it is a plus there is not all that much noise.
As for the sanding ability, it works pretty well with the provided belt, and the self centering aspect is pretty cool. It is abrasive enough to remove large bulk and smooths enough to leave a fine powder and soft finish on the wood all at once.
The cord is really long and I have no complaints as I really like being able to randomly pick an outlet and plug in and go.
The in-store cost of this item is far less than the ordered cost, I found this model in my local one. I do believe it is identical.

Items I would suggest are a sanding belt cleaner bar, immediately before you even buy this, additional and multi-grit sanding belts for other projects. This will save you hours of time, and lots of money.
The sanding belt cleaner is pretty cheap and it lengthens the life and reduces the gum on the belts.

Sander is very powerful and works very well.  Highly recommended.

Skil Hand Sander

Fragile Micro-filtration filter choked and crushed within one week of buying this belt sander. The collector unit is not designed to be opened by owner, is problematic to empty, and the filter itself is not replaceable. VERY disappointed in this unit, especially as my previous Skil belt sander gave me so many years of outstanding service. Yes, the collector on the old model wasn't as efficient as this one was out of the box, but you could open the thing AND it lasted the entire life of the tool. The sander itself seems solid, so if you intend to run with a shop-vac attached, this unit can still be a good buy for you. But as for me, because this appalling bad dust collector design has no way to change out the filter cartridges cheaply, I will not be buying skil tools in the future. One week, Skil?? Really?! VERY disappointed. I grudgingly give this unit Two stars rating it "Fair", for the value and functionality of the sander itself. That collector though... Oh!

Great value, AWFUL dust collector

Failed after 13 months with light use.  You turn it on and it would do nothing...light goes on but nothing else.  I called support and they said your out of luck since it had a 1 year warranty.  So, it went into the trash because it would cost more to fix it than get a new one.  I will never buy Skil again.

2 uses and the sander broke down.  The lock on switch jammed into the body rendering it useless
  Then pieces of rubber from the drive pulley started being ejected from the unit so the sanding belt walked into the inside edge of unit and entangled itself in drive mechanism.  Extremely dissatisfied but when it ran it did a good job sanding hence one star.
