Thank you for your question. The 9295 grinder is designed for metal grinding applications. If the desk is metal this would work, however if you have a wood desk we would recommend using a sander for refinishing.

This isn't a sander, it's an angle grinder. You need a "sander" otherwise you won't have an even finish with this.

I wanted an inexpensive angle grinder that would take a 4-1/2' diamond tile cutting disk so that I could sharpen the hardened steel blades of my Brushdestructor. I bolted a short length of aluminium angle to one of the handle mounting holes so that I can clamp it in the vice and use it as a bench grinder. I also use it free-hand. It works very well and I am completely satisfied.

This Skil Grinder is a little more powerful than any of my previous grinders. It has a 6amp motor and the best price I could find anywhere. Tired of the cheapo models, this ones a step above. Did you know Bosch makes Skil power tools? :-)

A more powerful Grinder

As a do-it-yourselfer this tool will come in handy. I have had for only a couple of days but have already used more than once. It cuts with ease and is not too heavy. Would recommend to everyone.

Key to change disks is in handle, very nice. feels good and secure in my hands. trigger to start is a little awkward but getting use too. good grinder for what I paid for it.

During use with concrete grinder.  The motor overheated and caught fire.  I would have expected a safety shutoff if the motor was exceeding design temperature.

It is an amazing, awsome tool until the arbor lock button breaks, allowing the lock pin to engage while rotating at full speed, which then tears up the units internal bearings. To add insult to injury, Both the bearings & defective abor lock button are not offered for sale, therefore it cannot be repaired.  While looking for said parts for my grinder, I came accross others that had this same issue with this model. Skil should not be offering this model with its known defective, spring loaded aror lock button!! Dont waste your money on this unit!!
