This item is an acid free and triple primed with a medium grain texture canvas, stretched over a wood frame, and stapled on the back.  I use them for acrylic painting and they take and hold the heavy body acrylic paints well. Although the wood frame is  light, the canvas is stretched as tight as possible and the wood frame is nice and straight.

are these flat or are they the ones that are stapled on the back?

To strengthen the corners if you frame the art work.

Hi Casey, Simply stretched canvases are tripled primed and suitable for use with acrylic (heavy-body included) and oil paint. Many artists use Simply canvases for their artworks!

Good canvas.  I paint a lot so for the price and quality, these work great for me.

I paint pet portraits as a gift for those donating to my animal rescue charities. So far I've used 14 Simply Stretched canvases in various sizes.  Although very light weight, they are straight, the canvas is stretched tight, and its texture is easy to paint on.

Very good value

I bought the 24 x 36 for a panda tatouage print. Painted with Tuscan Red from Walmart for back ground and put 50th in signature corner in Chinese symbols. Then 3 coats of clear poly. She has been to see all the baby pandas born last year in America. She is spending her birthday at The Grand Hotel in Wisc. for her big day and that is where Somewhere in Time was filmed, her favorite movie of all times. I bought poster from SWIT website and pasted on an 18 x 24" canvas. Used clear poly to coat then made brush strokes with thick white glue and then put another 2 or 3 coats of clear poly. Looks great, just like a real painting. Super for just about anything you can dream up. Go for it.

Great for my daughter's 50th birthday

Great Price!

I have used more expensive primed cotton stretched canvases. The Simply Stretched canvases have performed equally as well, if not better, never letting me down. Their medium grain texture holds the Liquitex heavy body acrylics I use well. I appreciate that the texture, while holding paint well, is still smooth enough to allow painting of smaller details. So far I have used 24 Simply Stretched canvases of various sizes. Each has arrived quickly, in perfect condition, with the tightest stretch possible. The wooden frames, while light in weight, have always been flat and straight. In the six months that I have been using them, not a single one has loosened or become distorted in shape.

Excellent stretched canvas at a great price

The canvas itself is great. Unfortunately, one of the canvases was damaged upon delivery. It came with a tear approximately an inch.

Canvases arrived quite damaged and unuseable.  Not worth the credit to send back as it would cost more in gas to return than refund. Oh well. Lesson learned - lower your expectations.
