I have a 4 year old girl and a 7 year old boy and they love to go trout fishing with me. When we started they didn't want to release them but after a year or two they now catch and release many, many but occasionally love to take 1 or 2 home to eat. Reminds me of when my Dad and Grand Dad would take me out. Hope my kids remember and love me as much as I did my Dad and Grand Dad. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I bought this for my Grandson for Christmas. It was way nicer then the online picture. He did'nt get to use it yet but loves to fish with his Dad so I'm sure he'll get good use of it.

Well worth the money

My 2 and a half year old loves it. Works perfect for him. Took a few times to teach him to use it and worked great. We have only used it one day though.

Toddler loves it!

Great entertainment for our 3 year old at the lake.  Only recommendation for such a young person's toy, would be to add a flotation device to it.... this is our second one =(

Perfect for 3 year old

Great starter pole for very young kids. Pros- the length makes it easy for a kid to learn how to cast and it lights up when you press the button. Cons - there's no drag system if they hook a big fish ... Its Farewell and a do to ye fair Spanish Maidens.

The grandkids were coming for the weekend and wanted them to try fishing but didn't want to spend a lot of money. This rod and reel was about the right size for the 5 year old, but a bit too small for the 7 year old. The release sticks, so it does not cast out smoothly. With help from adults, they were able to get it to cast out maybe 6 feet from the dock. They each caught a sunnie, so everyone was happy. You do need to purchase hooks, bobbers, lead and swivels separately, but no big deal to us as we have plenty on hand. For a weekend or two of fishing, it is adequate and let's you evaluate whether to buy a "real" rod and reel for the kiddies.

Ok for occasional use

I would not waste your money on ANY of the Disney fishing poles. Right off the bat the line was tangled up inside the reel. We unscrewed the top part to untangle and to put it back to together the reeling cast wouldn't work. A waste of money, time and wasn't able to use them to fish. Disappointed in the product especially for being Disney where they market a lot of stuff and that is what the kids wanted for there first time fishing. Just want to help others out and let you know.

I purchased for my Grandson and fishing rod had no string.  Description stated that it would.

I bought 1 had to exchange it the next day, got the next one & actually made it to the lake but 3 casts later that one broke too. My son never even got to use it.

Never again

This thing is terrible! I took my son fishing with it and it failed. After he had a bite from a small fish it would not reel in and then the line broke. He lost the fish! This my be a great toy for around the yard but do not buy it for actually fishing!
