I bought the first one that had a selector switch for 6 or 12 volts. It has been functioning properly for well over a year. The second one was an auto switch select between 6 and 12 volt. It was DOA. I returned it and bought the manual select unit and it is working properly. The units are sensitive to voltage change and will charge and maintain the proper levels very accurately.

This product was very simple to use, efficient and much less expensive than "basic" battery chargers I researched. I went to 2 motorcycle shops, checked 2 internet sites and the best price I could find was 25-30 dollars more. This battery charger also has features that I found on similiar products for $60+. Turns off after charge is complete, but also senses and maintains charge if kept connected to charger. 1.5 amps is ideal for motorcycle battery use. The purchase is a no brainer.

can this be hooked up to motorcycle battery with leaving ends to battery for hook up to charger?
    by countfangatang 8/28/2010
    • Yes, but u may have to lengthen the leads as they are only about a foot long. I lengthened mine by attaching O rings to both ends of two wires, one black and one read, bolt one end to the battery and the other end to the factory lead. Works fine.

    • It has 2 pieces. One end attaches to the battary and then their are a male/female end. The end on the bike justs tucks in out of the way on your bike.

    • Yes, this is one of the best ways to keep your mower battery fully charged. It charges at a very low and slow rate so it will not harm a battery and when it is fully charged it does what they call float which is virtually turn off except it is still watching to see if the battery loses enough charge internally so it will touch it up by going back to charge mode.

    • Its perfect for use on a riding mower, be advised tho that this is a trickle / maintainer so it will take 24 hrs to fully charge a dead or almost dead battery. I hope this helps, Jim

I left my lights on so my battery got discharged. Can it be used to recharge them.
    by npverma 2/1/2010
    • Not if you are in a hurry. Low amperage, would take 24 hours to recharge a dead automotive battery properly.
      by Fragged11/28/2014
Was this answer helpful? (6) (0)
    • no you cannot jump start your car with this, a 1.5 amp charger. The advantage to the battery maintainer is that is shuts itself off and back on automatically as needed.
      by BigEnosBurdette11/28/2014
Was this answer helpful? (4) (0)
    • Yeah, it will recharge but it could take quite a while, like 12 - 24 hours. It's not designed for a quick charge but if this is the only thing you have - use it!
      by vandedm12/19/2010
Was this answer helpful? (0) (0)
    • Yes, it will recharge the battery, it will just take a couple of days.
      by OhioConsultant12/11/2010
Was this answer helpful? (0) (0)
    • It will recharge your battery (needs to be plugged into an AC outlet) but will not allow you to jump start your car.
      by 2lugnuts11/6/2014
Was this answer helpful? (1) (0)
    • no. it would take way to long to charge the battery enought o use it that way.
      by JPARSONS11/10/2010
Was this answer helpful? (0) (0)
    • No it is not made for that.

Was this answer helpful? (2) (0)
    • Depends whether the battery has "life" to accept a charge. Try it out to find out. The charger will not allow you to jump start your car.
      by garageboss10/7/2010
Was this answer helpful? (0) (0)
    • No, this cannot be used to jump start a car.
      by chozian9/30/2010
Was this answer helpful? (1) (0)
    • This is not a "Jump Charger" but rather a "maintenance" charger that will keep the battery in condition over time. There are products called "Jump Chargers" for emergencies.
