It&#39;s dark brown. What makes the color helpful is that you can use a dark brown marker to easily repair small scratches.

What color is Jamocha . . . very dark brown or black?

The drawers on the Sauder Shoal Creek 2-Drawer Lateral File Cabinet do not lock.

There is no lock for the drawer and no magnetic latch for the doors, nor could you add a lock to it.

The top of the Lateral File Cabinet is not a drawer. There are two doors with storage space behind the doors.

The Jamocha Wood finish is very dark almost black in color.

No. I was a little disappointed about the when I received mine. The bottom drawer is what holds the hanging files (and it holds two columns of files, not one long row). The top area is basically a big cupboard-ish area.

The description is very deceiving as there is only one draw, the other part is a cabinet. Bummer!

Top is not a drawer it's a cabinet. Only bottom is double letter size drawer.

I was impressed with the quality and appearance of this product. It's a file cabinet that does not look like a file cabinet, and a great piece that is now displayed in my foyer. After ordering and returning a file cabinet from another vendor because of poor quality I was elated that this online purchase exceeded my expectations and more. Planning on purchasing the matching bookcase in the future to compliment my space. Great price! Great product!

Perfect for home

These are beautiful tables. I am using them for end tables in my living room. They look very expensive. They are very sturdy and simple to put together. I think it took me about 15 minutes to put together two of them. The only thing I don't like is that the drawers do not have anything supporting them so they just droop down.

Great Value

Although I was expecting it to have two drawers, as it states and appears, it only has one drawer with the top being cabinet space. It is a heavy piece of furniture and looks great when it's finally put together.

This is NOT a 2-drawer cabinet

I dropped one star because the title "2-drawer Lateral File cabinet" is misleading. We thought it would have two lateral drawers for filing but it it only has one lateral drawer that has two rows of filing. Other than that, it is very good quality cabinet.

Great value for good quality cabinet

I love the way this filing cabinet looks in my office. Putting together was fairly easy, just took a little bit of time-I'm a 44 y.o. with just a bit of experience putting items like this together. Fingerprints show up fairly easily on it, but a quick wipe with furniture polish cleans it up no problem. I knew the measurements, so not surprised, but wish the shelf were tall enough to stand up a binder. All in all a great purchase for the price. Would also love to see a 2-drawer standard filing cabinet in this style-I need a 'table' for next to a chair & would like it to be a filing cabinet.

Good piece of furniture

As many people have noted, there were a couple pieces with peeling or damaged finishes. In my case these should have been caught before shipping. Nevertheless, the customer service is good and they sent replacements immediately. It just shouldn't be necessary to do so. Cabinet looks good and is very solid. Works perfect for me.

Solid piece of furniture, but not out of the box

The good engineering and sturdy construction are what I expect from Sauder in this attractive piece. However, it is not a two drawer lateral file. The top half is just a shelf with cupboard doors. The bottom drawer is divided into two front-facing file areas. Still, it is a nice piece at a great price, and the instructions are easy to follow. If they had described it accurately, it would deserve a five -star rating.

Sturdy and attractive but only one drawer

This is a great price for a sturdy piece of office furniture.  The instructions made assembly pretty easy.  I did it alone, and a few of the pieces are heavy, but had no problem figuring how to assemble from the instructions.  There are a LOT of pieces - so plan on 2-3 hours to get it put together.  But for the price, I think you'll be very pleased with your purchase, as I am!

Great Price!

This file cabinet looks good.  The legs look a bit too thin.  The face of the lower drawer and the left front leg came with scratches.  Walmart customer services offered discount to keep it after I called them.  I also ordered Sauder Shoal Creek Executive Desk.  It was shipped by Hayneedle.  It arrived today.  One piece even damage and broken in two pieces.  I called hayneedle and was told I have to wait at lease 24 hours for them to contact the supplier to find out if they can replace that piece.  I have the big open box sitting in my garage and can't even do anything.  My old desk was already gone.  All the stuffs are sitting on the floor.  Very disappointed.   I guess these packaging is really not so good.

scratches

I bought my first one on ebay, what a mistake that was. It looked like it went through a grinder and I returned it defective. My luck here was much better but it still came with some scratches and while building it on carpet it scuffed up even more. I only kept it because it is the perfect size for a nook & cranny I want to put it in and I can cover up the scuffs and scratches with a maker I got from my TV stand, plus this thing is a monster for weight and I didn't want to pack up another one to return. Since it is thick particle board it is extremely heavy so you can't move it around easily nor do you want to since it scuffs and scratches easily. I love the size and features having my files in the bottom drawer and printer/photo papers in the top shelf. It's also large enough for my Epson 1400 wide printer and my Epson 4400 scanner so in the end it will work perfect for my needs.
