I purchase one of these from Wal-mart 4 are 5 years ago, when they first came out, it is made almost the same, just the light indicator changed, but it has been great and still using it, a lot of people complain about it doesn't cook right, are the waffles stick, first spray it lightly, plug it in until light goes off, then put pancake mix, they will turn out great! I spray mine every other time when I cook waffles , spray it lightly, you will enjoy waffles for a long time to come. I payed the same price for mine 4 or 5 years ago, and just bought another one for a gift! Enjoy....I have certainly enjoyed mine.

Instructions state to grease iron upon first use. Have not used any non stick products on this since and have not experienced any sticking. I do recommend if you like your waffles a little more crispy, keep them in the machine for longer than instructions say to remove more moisture from the batter during cooking. Like any other waffle maker, if you use too much batter in the machine...it will leak. I <3 this machine. Use it daily with no problems!

I tried this waffle maker 4 times, I was making pancakes every Sunday for breakfast and decided to try waffles for a change. Well, Its been a real nuisance using this thing. The waffles just seem to stick to the surfaces. I used non stick sprays and still had problems with sticking. This last ones stuck so bad. It looks like I will need a sandblaster to get it cleaned. Maybe its the type of waffle mix I used, its for both pancakes and waffles. In conclusion. I will go back to pancakes and if I decide on waffles I will just buy the frozen ones. I have better things to do with my time then spend a half hour trying to clean this thing every time I use it. Its going into the trash not going bother trying to clean it because each week the waffles stuck worse then the week before.

No problems so far. Works as expected. Don't use too much batter, or it will run out. I had that happen- my fault. I also use a light spay of Pam before cooking, never had anything stick. I check for browning after 3 minutes, 3 to 4 minutes gives me the light brown I like.

    • A. The green light comes on after approx. 3 minutes. That means the iron is hot enough and ready to receive batter.

    • A. lynnyb: when plugged into the outlet, the red indicator light glows. When the proper cooking temperature is reached, the green light comes on. Pour mix into the heated plate and the green light goes off. When the temp is reached once more the green light shows again, thus indicating that cooking is complete, or very nearly so - as may be evidenced by the cessation of steam.

    • A. Manuel says to preheat first time for 10 minutes to burn off oil. Throw away the first batch of waffles. There is no way to tell when done as the green light comes on way too early for it to be done. Just check every 30 seconds or so after light comes on til desired doneness.

    • A. When you brush butter on the grills shut it and wait for the lights to go out then put your waffle mix in by 1/3 or 1/4 C measurements, the lights will go back on to cook then wait approx. 3-5 min. to check and judge when it will be done. Do your first one to check and it will help you to know exactly when they will be done.

    • A. The red light is a constant pilot light. The green unit goes on when the unit is up to temperature, and cycles off and on during cooking. Forget the lights; you need to experiment and figure out the timing needed for your particular batter, and then just go by the clock.

    • A. The red light is for when it's hot and the green light is when it's done. The best way is when no steam is escaping the waffle is done, about 2 1/2 minutes

    • A. Yes, while the red indicator light shows the device is heating, the green light comes on later and signals the iron has reached a stasis temperature, i.e., the waffle is ready. At least it is more or less ready depending upon how crisp you like them. The best method is to watch for the cessation of steam issuing from the cooking process.

    • A. It has a light that lets you know when it's on and another that lets you know when it's done preheating or up to temp to cook your waffle. The instructions tell you to open it when it stops steaming. That has worked well for me. If you leave it in a little bit longer, it makes a crispier waffle. Takes quite a bit over to burn them.
