I have fine, very straight hair which is difficult to curl and this curling iron is doing a great job and I only had to set it on 5! The ceramic coating makes it smooth so the barrel doesn't catch on my hair. The only negative thing I have to say is that it is easy to accidentally move the setting dial, but a small piece of clear tape fixed that! 02/19/2012
