If you have more than one diabetic in the house it makes it easier to tell which meter is whose. That is the only real advantage I can see to having two colors. The meters are identical and use the same strips.

Yes, you can use any lancets. The lancets are just to stick your finger so it really has nothing to do with the meter.

You can use any lancets with a Relion lancing device I have, but you can only use prime strips for a prime meter. It must say for prime blood glucose monitoring system.

I can only speak for OneTouch lancets vs. Relion lancets, and as to those two brands, yes, they both fit/work in the lancing device for the other.

You can use any lancet in the appropriate lancing device. If you use another lancet in the Relion lancing device, it might stick you deeper, or barely stick you and make it hard to get enough blood, but if you do not get a big enough drop of blood, just lance the same spot again before you put the blood on the test strip, so you do not waste a test strip. This is true for any blood glucose meter. Lancets do not need to match up, as long as they draw enough blood. The Relion Prime uses a small blood drop, so it is especially flexible about what lancet you use.

Do not ever use any test strips other than the ones designed for the meter, however. If you get a reading at all, it is likely to be inaccurate. This is true even between two different meter types that are the same brand. For example, do not use Relion Ultima strips in a Relion Prime meter or the opposite either. The strips will send a different signal for the same blood glucose and your result will not be accurate.

Can I use any lancets in the ReliOn Prime meter?

It comes with 50 test strips - No lancets.

Mine did not. But you are going to buy strips in the future so why not get them with the meter. Don't remember about the lancets, I already have lancets from other devices with the finger stick device.

I was recently diagnosed with pre-diabetes and naturally I'm working on not getting diabetes 2.  This meter helps keep me on track every day to learn which foods are okay for me to eat and which foods are not.  It's very easy to use once you get the hang of it.  Right now I feel like it's my friend.

Easy to Use

I have been diabetic for 20 years, but bought this for one of my dogs that was recently diagnosed, because the test strips are only $9 per 50 strips. Mine are $75!!! I compared it on myself with my Accu-Chek Aviva, and the Prime meter tested only 2 points lower. I ordered the control solution online, (There is a toll free # in your manual to order), to make sure it is working properly, and it is! Highly recommend you order the control solution to make sure your meter is working properly, and it is FREE! READ,READ, READ your manual FIRST, and there are numbers in your manual if you have any issues with the meter. Like other reviewers, the only downside is the placement of the slot for the test strips. It is located very low, and is awkward/hard to see, but tilting it up when you insert the test strip makes it easier. Highly recommend this meter and will probably use it for myself when my other one dies, as the test strips are so cheap! The Prime meter is great!

Great basic glucometer!

Relion  is a super reliable, durable, dependable  meter...it even  holds up under teenager use. When we have compared it to other higher end name brands it is the same or even better. The price is the real hero though even though we have insurance we use relion EVERYTHING . buying the teststrips, meter, syringes, keytone teststrips, lancing device, lancets etc over the counter from walmart/relion allows us to feel secure that we have plenty of supplies for our daughter and don't have to cringe if she tests more one day than the other. she can freely test how many times she feels she needs without breaking our bank like the ones that the insurance will cover.

This system is so easy to use. It's small and portable to bring with you every day to monitor your levels. It's seems quite durable as I've dropped it several times and it still works like a charm. I've used other systems and this one by far was super easy! Others were pricey, where this was not. I would definitely recommend it.

I got this kit based on the need for cheap strips. I was surprised that this company was so cheap it didn't even include an lancing device.... and NO calibration fluid. How would one know that this is reading correctly?.

I wish this meter had an alarm feature.

Requires lots of set up and even then did not work.  Even though stick covered in blood, said I needed more.  Per manual and pictures I had more than enough.  Tried again one with more blood, one with less, still did not work.  Would be great as super price for meter and sticks, if it worked.

Highly unreliable. I finally used my old Bayer glucose meter to check against my ReLion results, and ReLion reads 30+ mg/dl higher than the Bayer meter, which seems to be correct when correlated with my HgA1C.  The stores don't carry the control solution, so you have to order and wait 2 weeks. I can't go that long without having an accurate meter, and Walmart should not send out a meter with such a large discrepancy, IMO.  They did refund my money.

Doesn't give reliable readings ever!

Absolutely terrible meter. I was using this for weeks after being diagnosed with gestational diabetes. My fasting numbers were always high so I was put on insulin which then added twice a week ultrasounds/non-stress tests, appointments with maternal fetal medicine, and required induction at 39 weeks. 

Thankfully I ended up reading about how inaccurate this meter is. I did research and found out it consistently fails accuracy checks in multiple research studies. I bought a Contour Next (ranked at the top for accuracy) and have never had a number out of range (and the Prime sometimes would give me numbers up to 27 points higher than the Contour). Iâm now off insulin and easily diet controlled. But thanks to the ReliOn we are out several hundred dollars because of the insulin and all the extra appointments/monitoring. I also spent 6 weeks with intense anxiety due to my âhighâ numbers  Thank God I found out the issue before going through an unnecessary early induction.
