No, it doesn&#39;t matter. This garbage isn&#39;t going to work, anyway. I have a young tomcat and my heater went out and I had to sleep on another bed until I could fix the heater. Unbeknownst to me , the cat was getting in to the room and almost ruined the mattress. I bought one of the &quot;patch kits&quot; and have never purchased anything as near totally USELESS. I have had a waterbed since the spring of 1977. This is the absolute WORST product I have ever purchased to use with a waterbed.

does the bed need to be drained in order to apply the patch?

This is the only product I've ever found that actually stops the leaks permanently.  Just make sure the area is clean and dry prior to adhering.

The only thing that works for inflatables!
