If you don't, why not just get an air popper that's designed for no oil usage.

Gave it a try since you inquired. The popcorn took longer to pop, but did pop.

You might want to check with the manufacturer, Presto, to be on the safe side.

I tried both and neither did any better than the other.

I have found that the kernals burn if you don't use oil. The butter also burns to the bottom.

They do pop, yes. I have done this with only enough kernels for myself. I dont know if they will pop with more, nor do I know if it's a safety hazard.

Use oil, but butter is optional. I use soft margarine.

You should use butter or oil. The best oil to use is canola oil. If you don't use any oil, it'll mess up the surface.

The Stirring Popper requires oil to pop the popcorn.

No. Just plug in when you're ready to go, then unplug.

There is no off/on switch. As soo as you plug the unit into the wall outlet, it starts to heat up and rotate. Just unplug it to turn it off.

I loses too much heat through the cracks so it won't pop like it said to.

I have used it cracked, but it made a huge mess. I am going to try and find a supstitue bowl to compensate.

Probably. You have to have the vents at the top open anyway, so a crack probably wouldnt hurt. Unless the crack is big enough to have stuff popping out of it.

I have been using mine and the lid is cracked almost everywhere. It still works, I just never use the bowl to eat out of and it makes it very hard to wash.

It depends on how bad it is cracked. I was able to use mine until pieces started craking off. I am not happy about buying a replacement bowl only after a few months of purchasing this product.

this is the best popcorn popper doesn't burn . pops evenly no kernels! made solid not cheaply made like some. I recommend this popper to anyone who loves popcorn-we use it every night and never disappoints!

I've used this a couple times since receiving it and popcorn turns out great.  I also appreciate how easy it is to clean.

OK, so this is actually the second Presto popper I bought. Why did I buy a second one? It makes great popcorn and is sold at a good price. The clear lid on the first one cracked BECAUSE I DROPPED IT OFF THE COUNTER ONTO THE FLOOR. My bad, but I kept popping with a fractured lid for about 8 months. When the duct tape couldn't hold it together anymore, I wasted no time in buying a replacement.

I love this machine! My roommate begs me to make popcorn and now she's willing to make it on her own. The popcorn tastes so much better than microwave.

I bought a third Presto as a gift for my brother and he loves his too! I'd recommend this for anyone who wants a machine at this price point.
