The catch is that you are only allowed to use single syllable words. If you use any words with more than one syllable, the other team gets to bop you with a 2-foot inflatable club. Over this last week while on our volleyball tournament/fall break, we were given the opportunity to enjoy two new party games from Exploding Kittens (Good vs. Evil and Poetry for Neanderthals). We started with Poetry for Neanderthals, and after watching the hilarious, but super easy “video” instructions, we had the absolute BEST time with this game! My kids are still asking almost daily to play it again with more friends, and more game nights are definitely in our future! As you can tell, this game was good for ages 7+, and is going to bring lots of deep, belly laughs! And who doesn't want an inflatable club to bonk players over the head when they mess up??!! IT.IS.EPIC. We followed up the PfN game with Exploding Kittens Good vs. Evil, and while it was an interesting twist on a familiar strategy game, we couldn't help but want to go back to Poetry for Neanderthals. Epic Game for All Ages! Our New Favorite!!

Exploding Kittens

I fell in love with this game so fast! It is so fun to be able to whack someone when they mess up on their syllables! Plus, the poems by grok at the end (optional) are so funny! This is great for 2 players to a ton of players!I saw a previous review saying the poems were gone... this was not the case for me... so maybe a mistake for that specific person?

I brought this game to a family game night. My 3 year old nephew was going to be the time keeper. Sadly the timer had broken during delivery so he and my five year nephew were going to be the No Stick operators. It turned out they both were good at guessing as well! This game is great for making your think. My family enjoyed the game and said it brought it us together and offered many laughs.

Fun for all ages!

t get bonked in the head with the inflatable club, or the NO! stick. The game is very easy to set up and learn how to play. There are 2 teams, Team Glad and Team Mad and they each sit in alternating positions around the table. You pick who is going to be the poet and then the poet decides if they want their team to guess the 1 point word (easy) or the 3 point word (hard) and if you guess the 1 point word and still have time, you can go for the 3 point word, but if you mess up, you lose the point and have to place the card on the oops slate. We all found it very challenging NOT to use multiple syllable words and always seemed to get hit on the head with the club which, I think, we all loved the most. You then have Grok's words of love and sad cards where the winning team goes through their poetry cards and picks their 3 favorites and insert the words into the blanks in the poem. The other team has the NO! stick and decide whether to use it based on the quality of the poem. This is completely opional but still quite fun and hilarious.Everything you need is included, you get 200 poetry cards, 90 sec timer, poet point slate, team point slate, inflatable 2ft club, and 20 Grok's words of love and sad cards. There is an additional set of poetry cards that you can buy separately.

fun game

My game group had so much fun playing this game. We had to tone down hitting with the Nope stick, but it was a blast. I loved hearing the fun one syllable descriptions! As an educator I can see using this game in a classroom setting! I highly recommend this game for all ages! There is some light reading involved to playing with a buddy may be needed for 5-7 year old gamers. I think it says 7+ but our littles loved it!

Ever want to club someone over the head for saying the wrong thing? This game is for you! Sounding like a caveman, you must talk and give clues to your partner while only using one syllabal word(s). If you use more than one, a player from the opposite team will club you with the inflatable club that comes with the game! Play for as little or as long as you'd like in this hilarious game!

Hilarious & fun game!

I loved that I could use this game to teach my son and nephew about “syllables”. Didn't think this would be so educational to be a Neanderthal. We all had a great time. It's nice to have a family friendly game with an inflatable “no” club to keep the other team honest!! We had a great time!

Poetry for Neanderthals is a brilliant addition to any game collection. Its creative concept, easy-to-learn rules, and uproarious laughter make it a perfect choice for family game nights and gatherings. I love the challenge of explaining something using one-syllable words. The inflatable club is priceless. The kids and adults love bonking each other on the head when messing up!

Fosters Creativity

So this game is super cool and creative, but you really have to be smart and quick to learn. i am not too much in english vocab so i found it difficult to learn, but my kids just loved it and got it. the hitting with club when you get it wrong is the most fun part. i am giving it one star less just because the qualit of club is not very strong, our had a lil crack after few use, good they have a club repair patch which came in handy to fix the club. overall i would say its intelligent and creative game and super fun

Very Creative game , but takes few round to learn

The game is a lot of fun for young kids and adults. We had a very hard time not saying multiple syllable words and also not wasting time laughing out loud. Only problem is our no stick came with a hole in it where we couldn't patch it. Since it was a Christmas gift from family in another state, could not exchange. Not as much fun without the stick.
