Works like a charm. Inexpensive and have two of them in the house now. Dont have them hooked up to computers, but they do the job with out all the bells and whistles. If you just want to watch Blu Ray and reg dvds or cds. cant go wrong at all with this player.

This BD Player was ok for me, but after I upgrade the firmware I loved, every movie is cristal clear in xvid movie and DVD. I have not tried in Blu-Ray yet, but I know it got to be even better.

Great BD Player

I didn't immediately jump on the Blu-Ray bandwagon. My old Philips recordable DVD player died so when I got my refund I set out looking for a replacement.

I like the Philips brand. Since I also have a Philips TV I was surprised that the remote from the DVD player will also control my TV automatically, no special codes to input. The upconversion from standard to HD is really sharp and noticeable.

I was able to get it for $99 on a special price and had it shipped to the store. It was a tremendous value. It's been working like a charm since I got it 2 weeks ago.

I think that if they keep making products, I'll keep buying Philips. Great value and quality.

Great Blu-Ray Value

I am really happy with this we have had it for a few weeks and have stopped using our reg DVD player...quality is AMAZING!! Just don't use site to store we did and it took almost a month from when I ordered it. Don't save the few bucks for free shipping to store ship it to yourself. Ours sat in a warehouse for 3 days.

Great for the price!

First I want to let everyone know that this player will not stream Netflix or movies, but I did not buy it for that reason. I just wanted a dependable Blu ray player with a great price. This player is all that and more. I have not had any problems with it, you will need to update this player and you can do that 2 different ways, by just plugging a ethernet cable into the back of it while it updates or you can burn a CD-R from Philips website. Just follow the instructions on the website and make sure to extract the file from the zipped folder and then burn it to a CD it will then update when you put the CD in and choose update by disc. I chose the disc but hooking it up to a ethernet cable would be easier. Anyway great player for the price, it is Bluray 2.0 so it should play any Blu ray disc. I have not found one that it will not play. Takes about 2 minutes or so for a Blu ray to load, which is good. Also does a great job at upscaling your regular Dvds to near Hd quality. Really to me you are better off getting a blu ray player like this one and then if you want to stream movies then get a HD Roku player or an itv from apple. You actally come out cheaper that way and the seperate devices stream much better and are more dependable than one built into a Blu ray player.

Great Blu Ray player for the price !!

I'm satisfied in a 99% with this product..the only thing that I don't like is the Smart TV app, the application don't work as expected (at least in Chile) and have a lot of channel for german-spoken people.
The other thing that I've found that don't work fine is with some MKV files created in the last profile format.
The positives things are:
-Easy of use
-Is very quick to turn on (compared with other brands)
-Read a lot of formats for video
-Works very fine with USB pen-drives or external HDD
Definetely I will recommend.

This player does exactly what the purpose of it is...it plays blu-rays. For the price, I am pleased with the picture quality but don't expect any extra features like streaming netflix or pandora because this player doesn't have those capabilities. If you're looking for an affordable player and don't have many blu-rays (like me) then this is perfect for you.

No frills!

This machine is great in all the ways it plays but in our days of hoping for blazing fast technology, it's just not enough when it takes 20 seconds to load up the Blu-Ray. This was especially painful for me when I tried switching between the feature film disc and the special features disc for Star Trek. It does it's job but it takes it's time doing it.

A little slow.

We were looking for an affordable Blu-Ray player at Christmas when I purchased this one. At first glance it was by far the best deal. We hooked it up the first night and it played a couple of Blu-Rays fine, except for the load time being a little longer than normal and volume being very low even at max. The next night it would not load any Blu-Rays, instead saying "Playback feature not available on this disk." We contacted Philips customer service about the problem and they said "When we originally made the player, Blu-Rays did not have so much information. Now it will require an SD card to play the discs." So still feeling it was the best deal we went to the store to pick up an SD card. After installing the SD card at home it still wouldn't play. We hooked the player to the internet to try to install firmware updates and program the SD card, still nothing. We contacted customer service a second time and they said it should be a certain brand of SD and certain type we couldn't find.

Finally having enough, we took it back to the local Wal-Mart and exchanged it for a Samsung model that we have not had a single problem with. It loads discs MUCH faster and the volume works fine. Best of all, it ACTUALLY plays new Blu-Rays. In other words, it does what it says it is supposed to do when you buy it without jumping through hoops. Avoid this model unless you enjoy making repeated trips to Wal-Mart. In my opinion, if Philips had any integrity they would pull this item from the shelves and make the upgrades themselves instead of leaving the customers to do the dirty work to make an inferior product actually operate.
