The answering machine is centralized for each handset on a single phone line.

This phone system is a 1 line phone with only one answering machine.

I was pleasantly surprised that this phone set not only met my expectations but exceeded them. It has so many nice features that I appreciate, like: the range of service is terrific, you can pick up voice mail from ANY handset, there is a wide variety of ring tones/melodies, and you can set any handset to be silent during a certain time period (like in the middle of the night!). Have only had it a few weeks, but so far, very good!

Great Phone

I had to replace my unidens as the bateries were going and too exspensive to replace. These use tripple A's rechargable batteries i can buy at a store when they need replacing! I am so Happy!:)

I love my new phones!

the phone was a little confusing at first but I love it now. It tells you who is calling so you don't even have to look at it. You can set up the phonebook so all your numbers are handy, and set them into different groups. Very clear. Its great having a phone wherever you want it even in the bathroom, just plug into any outlet and your ready to talk. It was a great value and they had a promotion to save money on the price, so it was even less expensive.

love having a phone in every room

This is the most I've paid for a phone but well worth it. Everything about it is simple and easy to use. I like the call blocking feature very much. When you get a already blocked call the phone rings once and thats it. It's gone forever. The manufacturer could do a little better at explaining the call blocking in the information/specifications in the phone ads. They say to be able to use the call blocking you have to subscribe to your phone company. This is true but all that is needed is caller ID and that should be explained in the information. Many people have caller ID already so they are all set once they get the phone.

Easy to use and has many features one could want

I previously had a set of VTech phones for a few years and had been unhappy with the quality of being able to hear the other person calling. Many times I either couldn't answer the call or hear the caller which made it a struggle every time the phone rang.
What a difference this new set has made. I hear clearly and everything works perfectly. It did take a bit to program it but that was my fault. I didn't read the instructions very carefully but after some frustration I sat down and actually read them and it was a breeze after that.
I couldn't be happier. I also really like the larger lettering on the screens. Being a senior it helps a lot as does the Caller ID announcement of who's calling. No longer do I have to hurry up and look to see if I want to take the call, I can hear faster then I can look at it.
I would recommend this set of phones to those wishing to replace their current phones or to just get a set of wireless phones.

Surpasses My Expectations

We have had these about 2 or 3 weeks; we had V-Tech for a number of years which were really good, just were dropped too many times. These Panasonic phones have a lot of choices and it is going to take a while to take advantage of them all. Voices are really good, intercom is really good, not really any complaints to date. Just a little pricey.

has all the bells and whistles

We are very happy with the phones, and would reccomend it to anyone. It did take a bit getting used to all the extras, but worth the time to set up. So, far very happy, and especially since it takes "Regular Rechargeable Batteries", instead of those packs, that cost a fortune. This is a great plus to our family, as you have NO idea how many phones we have thrown away because of the cost of the battery packs.

Great Phone for price.

I have the same product in my home and I bought this system for my mother because she had a phone system that didn't work well for her. I was able to set the system up with ease and put in all her frequently called numbers. The only problem I had was in setting up the voice mail system. I set it up to answer after 6 rings. ( you can set it up to 7 rings) but every time I called her number it would interupt and tell me her voice mail was not set up yet. I had to call Panasonic tech support and was told to set the number of rings lower. I set it to 3 rings and then the voice system picked up to take a message. I tried to reset it to 4 rings and that didn't work either. Otherwise you can hear really well and all other features work excellently.

Bought this for my mother

Though the incoming sound quality is quite good, and better than Panasonic phones from a few years ago, the outgoing sound quality, which most reviewers fail to check, is quite bad, sounding like a 3G cell phone. The directory can only store up to 24 digits per number, so this phone cannot conveniently be used to check credit card balances, or to make international calls using discount calling cards.

Concerning KX-TG6844. All was fine until we started using the answering system which is atrocious. It's difficult to explain all the problems with using it. From the prerecorded options to the sound quality to call screening. Having to insert a code to erase from the handset, etc. On Call Screening the greeting should be heard. The prerecorded message should not say we will call back. We like the other functions such as shared phone book, accessing the phone book etc. But the answering system needs extensive mods to be useful. Bottom line,I will be returning the unit.
