I bought this rod specifically for catching skipjack. I've used it on two occasions and caught over 30 skips and white bass with it. Sometimes two fish at a time with a sabiki type rig. It handles the fish extremely well and you can use the rod to flip them onto the bank or boat with ease. My favorite skipjack rods so far! I would bet it would make a fantastic catfish rod as well! Absolutely love the rod and the value. I bout two and I'm going back for a few more! Super good quality for the price.

Well made rod. Fiberglass composition. Low flex. Tried it out with zebco 33 reel in small pond of catfish. Have me good control of target cast after cast. Caught a 3 ln catfish with no problem. Has a hook holder just above reel. 2 piece construction portable and light.

Good targeting rod

I needed a boat rod that was sturdy, yet with enough flex to 'feel' the hit. I will use it at the river's mouth, and in deep water for the salmon which can get heavy. The rod has good balance and nice eyes. A good buy

GOOD BOAT ROD

I bought this pole to try with heavier equipment - I have not had it very long but I can tell already it will do just that - the pole is very well built and is perfect for my new Okuma reel - I use it with bottom bouncers for walleye and it is a very nice addition to my arsenal

I've only been able to take this out a couple of times. This is a well made rod, stiff enough but allows good flex with a fish on the line. The guides are stainless steal, the grip is EVA material and seems solid and I expect it to hold up. There is a hook keeper as well for added convenience. So far, I'm very happy with this rod.

The Ozark Trail Grit Stick 7' H Spinning Rod is a medium weight rod for fish between 1 to 10 pounds in my estimation, but your fish may differ. Having said that, this TWO piece pole with larger eyelets is a fisherman's delight. The action is sensitive but firm. The two piece connection is a concern but they seem secure in my adventures. I recommend this rod if you need this type.

FRESH FISH !!

This  7' Heavy pole is perfect for heavy weights and strong currents.  Trolling for Walleye in the detroit river using 2 oz bottom bouncers and crawler harnesses.  handled it perfect

I needed a new fishing rod since I broke the tip of my old rod. The 7' Ozark Trail Grit Stick seemed to fit the need. I mounted my older Abu Garcia spinning reel on it and it has a nice feel. I have not been able to fish with it yet, but I can't wait. The rod appears to be stiff enough to use with soft plastic lures under a popping cork which is the way I fish most of the time. It is also strong enough for a nice bull red.

If not for one of the eyes being a tad out of alignment I would 5 Star this Rod for its performance to price ration being so great..

At 7' and rated as Heavy with no action designation I would say its a medium speed action. The tip does have a fiberglass section.
Its a two piece which suits my travel needs, heavy action yes but not so heavy you cannot enjoy a 10lb Amber Jack to a 35lb Tarpon from the dock or shore.

It balances and performs fantastic with the Shimano Fishing Spheros SW A 5000XG Reel, also a budget performer. Together with this rod it casts without complaint for distance and accuracy.

You will not find anything about this rod out there. I believe I am the only one reviewing it.

Great Budget Spinning Rod For Salt Dock & Shore

Awesome heavy action rod. Bought one it was delivered to my door by UPS. After using it I ordered another one. Lame merchant shipper sent a fishing rod through USPS to be delivered to a little parcel box. I have no way of going 20 miles to post office to get it so i guess merchant will get it back one day. Shipping personnel definitely need training, you know the simple stuff like a 7 foot rod doesnt fit in a mailbox. Since I'll never see the 2nd rod, i was forced by Walmart to order a rod from Amazon who will bring it to my house. But for review...the rod is a bit heavy in weight but is a very nice rod for the price.
