the hutch is attached by two screws in the middle of the desk and two pegs on either side if the desk top

The hutch part is put on last so yes you could build this desk without the hutch. I'm not sure how sturdy the desk would be without it though.

The Hutch is easily detachable. This whole unit comes in one big flat box and requires some assembly.

Probably not. The hutch is attached by 4-3in wooden dowels to the desk. You would have to find a way to more permenantly attach it to the desk, but then you run into the issue of the fact it is not actually made out of wood but compressed particle board.

i might put a tv on top of the hutch part. but i put extra elbow braces on all three leg parts.

I'm sure it would hold those, no problem. Seems quite sturdy. If you're referring to the top shelf of the hutch. It is only 9 inches wide. make sure your printer would fit.

I don't think I'd put anything that heavy on it. It's made of particle board so it might warp. It's mostly made for a regular size monitor for the top part of the desk and the hutch part is mostly for things like a few books or trophies, etc.

The shelf portions of the desk is sturdy however the place where most people put the monitor is not. Placed my laptop on there and a few days later I come home to find the laptop on the floor and the area where the wood parts meet and you screw them in had totally broken apart.

I did the site to store option. Came quick. Picked it right up. No problems. Super super easy to put together and I didnt think so because of its size. Took me about an hour to put together. Love love love the look. Its also a great price. The only thing im a little concerned about is the left side leg of the desk isnt as sturdy as I would like it to be but I just went back and glued it with some hard as nails for reinforcement and its fine.

This desk is exactly what I had expected. I was looking for something nice but no too large. The shelving really helps make the desk, however I wish the shelf on the right was adjustable like the shelf on the left. Other than that, I have no complaints. I guess it could stand to be a bit more solid, but what do you expect for the price, right? Not bad!! Easy enough to put together too...
