Good little radiator.

In order to perfom well, remember radiators are designed to heat the air in the room using convection to transfer heat from the radiator to the surrounding air. They do this by drawing cool air in at the bottom, warming the air as it passes over the radiator fins, and discharging the heated air at the top. This sets up convective loops of air movement within a room. This is best done where the air is coldest such as under a window. If the radiator is blocked either from above or below, this air movement is prevented, and the heater will not work.

Great Space Heater So Far

I read all the reviews about the Optimus Electric Portable Oil-Filled Convection Radiator Heater and felt that despite the reported occasional lemon, this space heater was a good option for my home--especially considering the price. I decided that if I did in fact get a lemon, I'd just return it. So I bought two of these and have had no problems whatsoever so far. I use them in my kids' bedroom and my bedroom. It keeps the kids bedroom (approx. 12x10') nice and toasty with the door cracked an inch. Their room is typically very cold in the winter even with the heat on, so I am relieved that I no longer have to worry about them freezing all night long. My bedroom is bigger and the same space heater does a great job. I haven't used it to roast, per say, but simply to raise the temperature to a level where I don't mind getting out of bed on cold winter mornings. (We keep the house fairly cool to save money.) Our energy bills seem fairly low so far with these heaters--certainly less than if we were using our HVAC to heat our entire house to the temperature that we're using these puppies for. Considering the risk of a lemon, and knowing that I would just return one, I am pleased with the performance of this space heater and would even consider buying another one for our guest bedroom. Also, to address the reviews of poor castor wheels, they don't bother me in the slightest. The unit is small enough that I can easily pick it up to move it around, although I do roll it, too. I will admit that I'm never moving it more than five feet at a time, but for me the wheels haven't been an issue.

Portable Oil-Filled Convection Radiator Heater

Tho' we haven't used this particular one on this order yet, we've used this model heater for years & since electricity is less expensive in our area than oil, we've been using them as a back up heating source in our great room area & the heaters do quite well. I have a friend in a townhouse who has 4 of these & heats the entire 2-floor home with them.
