Metal mini-blinds.
They fit well and move and adjust nicely, just like any type of blind. Only they are behind the glass.

Are these cellular shades or metal mini blinds on this ODL product?

Yes, the ones I got are raised frame. The fit over windows such as those on a back door which have raised frames around the windows.
However, there are blinds for windows without raised frames, e.g., like a flat window with no frame. I've not had a need for these and am not familiar with their construction.
I have noticed that the raised frame design costs about half what the non-raised frame cost.

Yes, there is a plastic frame that raises it probably about an inch. I'm not sure what you mean by construction blinds. It is a finished product; no painting required, looks and works great!

This is for a framed door. You unscrew the frame at the top and bottom, just to loosen, then slide in the top mounts and the spacers below, retighten, then hang! EASY.

Add on blinds

The blinds are just what I was hoping for. We had tried the plastic blinds that attach to the steel door with large magnets and looked nice and provided privacy, but couldn't take day to day life. Falling down and crooked etc... the blinds would break for one reason or another. The "ODL" blinds seemed perfect but pricey.
When I finally had the money I went to buy them. I was confused by the way the blinds were sized and advertised. I decided they wouldn't fit my front door's window... mine was an odd size I believed because of my confusion.
I went another 4 months hating the plastic broken blinds. Finally, I re-measured the door window more precisely... and went to the the big box stores and tried to find someone to confirm that they would not work for me. The 2 guys seemed torn for the same reason, one on each side. After going on line and studying the instructions again, I agreed to buy and try them... and return them if they wouldn't work... to my great pleasure they fit perfectly and securely. They also went on much easier than I thought.

We are satisfied and happy in every way.

These blinds fit and function perfectly!

So I love it esp. for the money vs. buying a whole new door w/ blinds already in them. They do everything they're suppose to, work well, easy to install, look great. I painted the trim to match & looks great & is holding up well. Here's just a few things to note just in case, that I didn't see on the first 25 or so reviews that I read: They do clang or bang around when you open & close the door. The other thing is that when there's a huge temperature difference between outside & inside you will get either frosting or even ice on the door between the glasses. This does eventually go away or mostly goes away, this happens from the blinds being closed all night. But even w/ those 2 things I wouldn't go back on purchasing these! NO more peeping neighbors!!! YEAH!

Love it, also a couple things to note

The blind fit perfectly. Very easy to install. About 15 minutes. Looks great.

Very easy to install. Needed to trim the frame a little to fit around the door handle. When lifting the blind to the top it works a bit hard but if you move it slowly it doesn't appear to be a problem. Over all it looks great and I'm happy with the purchase

Worked over the door as expected

Great solution for a door window - keeps the dogs from tearing up the regular blinds that were there originally. We like the way it looks, easy to open and close the blinds. Fairly easy to install - did it by myself, although a helper would be preferred. I've had this product before in another house and immediately ordered this when we moved in here.

Great solution for a door!

At the time I built my houe (1988) my french doors did not have the option for enclosed blinds, so I utilized modified curtains with minimal results. As I have two dogs, they are constantly at the window looking outside making installation of mini blinds (typical) not practical. Ths ODL add on blind, which incorporates glass protection for the mini blinds, thereby converting my older style metal door to enclosed blinds - now I am happy and my dogs can still look outside, but not damage the blinds.

Great After Market Product

I want and need these blinds for a back door. They are a good design to open and close to let light in, and to raise and lower.
The condition of the unopened package suggested it had not had a gentle trip to the Wal-mart where I picked it up. The plastic banding had been stretched, all were loose and the middle band was flopping around, not in contact with the box at all. Where the straps contacted the container, the container had been crushed. (Looked like the straps had been used to pick up and move the package.)
When I opened the package, the blinds were all jammed into the bottom of the box, some were bent and twisted. I was finally able to get the blinds into their slots so they would work -- go up/down, tilt up/down. So the unit was functional, and looked like a good, simple effective design. However, about 4 or 5 blinds had been bent so bad I could not completely straighten them. So, when it was upright, as it would be on the door, there was obvious misalignment of these several blinds.
I took it back to Wal-Mart. They gave me an immediate refund. No hassles, no questions. [Thank you Wal-Mart!!!]
The next day I ordered the exact same blinds online from Lowes. I have not picked them up. But, I will check their condition before I leave the store.
I recommend that you do the same.
NOTE: It looked like there were to multiple possible sources of the problem.
(1) the internal packaging looked incomplete, i.e., there was no packaging inside the box to hold the blinds firmly in their slots at the retracted position to keep them from falling out and bouncing around inside the box during shipment.
(2) the bands were probably used to lift and move the package, and tore into the package
(3) however, only the end bands were tightened against foam inserts inside the package. There seemed to be nothing under the middle band inside the packaging for the middle band to be tightened against.

Good product, poorly packaged, damaged in shipment

This unit did not fit my door window frame without some minor modification. My existing window frame was about 2 inches too narrow (yet too wide for the next size down), so I had to widen the slots at the top, going toward the center of the unit. Also, the lower clamps on the side that are designed to engage the window frame did not reach, so I had to install my own clamps at the bottom. The problem is that the two widths made do not overlap. If your window frame is between 22" and 23.75" as mine was, you will have to make some modifications. About a 2 hour job, but it works and is probably more secure than it would be with the original method of security.

Some modification required

I purchased the ODL add-on blinds for my french doors. At first I thought they were the best thing since sliced bread, but after a few days I realized I was wrong. They are perfect if installed on a stationary window or door, but if they are installed on a door that is constantly used, the louvers have a tendency to come off their tract. You have to up the shade all the way hoping they will slide back on tract, if not, you have to remove the entire unit and correct the louvers. A very tedious and tiring job. I am presently trying to figure out a way to modify the blinds to keep the louvers permanently in place. If anyone has any ideas, they sure would be appreciated.

Great if installed on stationary windows or doors.
