I have mine working with Charter Communications, our local cable provider. No problems. Just run an Ethernet cable from your router back to your desktop. With a laptop, just run the ethernet cable from your router to your modem. The laptop can now be used in any room in the house. Hope this helps.

I just called Comcast 4/5/2018 and was informed after much checking that this model is NOT on their list to be compatible. I must return this item and try to find out exactly which model will work for me for my Comcast tv/internet/ wifi. Very frustrating and a waste of time.

The best place to place it is in the middle and up high for less obstruction. I just installed it and works better than my Cisco Valet. My home isa brick ranch style so it's 100' long. This reaches outside and I have great signal strength 50' away. I use it for video streaming and Internet access.

I can't give the exact distance, but I own a 2500sq ft home and didn't have issues connecting wireless from any part of my home.

What is the actual range in feet for this router? I have a large home and the connection is at one end of the house.

YOU LEAVE THE ROUTER ON ALL THE TIME. DO NOT TURN OFF. PLACE THE ROUTER NEXT TO THE MODEM. THEN RUN YOUR CAT5 ETHERNET CABLE TO YOUR COMPUTER OR USE THE WIRELESS FUNCTION IF YOUR COMPUTER IS SO EQUIPPED.

I would think so. Just have to run a long Ethernet cable for your application. Why would you be turning the WiFi on and off? Just asking.

You will seldom, if ever, want to turn off your wifi, so this seems like a poor reason to locate the router upstairs. Routers are usually placed in a certain place to get stronger signal coverage in a particular area. Try installing it down stairs first, and save the price of a cable if your signal strength upstairs is good enough.

If you connect the router to your modem with a CAT5 Ethernet cable, it can be up to 100 meters (328 feet) away. 60 feet is no big deal at all, but you should:
1. Use a single length of cable (buy a 75 foot or longer cat5, cat5e, or cat6 cable to have a little extra), and don't let the cable or its connectors at the ends get squeezed, stepped on, or damaged during or after installation.
2. Buy a cable that already has connectors. Crimping you own requires special tools, and many people do it poorly or not to spec, then think its the cables fault it doesn't work.

Of course, you could also move the modem closer to the place you want the router, if that's easier.

Great Wireless Router. Great range. Works Great for running 2 Xbox 360 Lives. Can handle Both Xbox , a Smart TV, A Directv, A smart phone, and a Laptop at the same time. Plus my desktop is hard wired into it. Very easy setup. almost a Plug and Play. Beats anything AT&T has to offer.
If you old wireless is slow or short range. Then this is the router you need to get you where you want to be. Highly Recommend. Hope this helps.

Great Wireless Router

Our old Linksys WRT54GL router died, and this is definitely a step up. It's in the basement and delivers a strong signal throughout our two-story house. I plugged an external hard drive into the USB port and it works great for DLNA media streaming with none of the hassles I experienced trying to do it via the computer. The 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands seem to deliver nearly identical download speeds.

Works just fine

I've had this router set up for about 2 weeks now and I'm happy to say it's working as well as I had hoped. I have a smart TV with wireless capabilities about 5ft from the router in the same room and the TV get's flawless connection. Netflix, YouTube, all HD right away with no hiccups. Even when I am using my wired connection to my PC and playing online games/streaming myself, the connection holds strong. Not to mention I hooked up my printer to it and now have a wireless accessible network printer which is neat. If i had a NAS there is READYCloud tech built in the router too. For $90 I'd say it's definitely worth the price. Plus it looks sleek, feels well made, and has pretty much all the bells and whistles.
