I would say that the age range would be from 2 years to 8 years, but it also varies on the child. My little boy is 2 and uses it to eat on and to do crafts.

I would let my 1 year old play with it easily.

I would say 1 - 3 yrs if the child is small framed. My son is tall so I will probably have to purchase a bigger set by 3 or 4 yrs old.

2-6 yrs it says but my kids are 18 months and 2 1/2 and we use it for them.

I would suggest no older than 4 or maybe 5, the chairs are really tiny :-)

Yes it is a perfect smooth top, would be just fine for coloring and things like that!

This table does have a somewhat textured top, but not so much that it hinders coloring with a crayon.

the table was smooth, but not alot of room. try to look for a bigger set. picnic table surface is bigger.

The table has some texture but not excessive. It seems to be just enough to keep things from sliding off easily but probably would make coloring on a single page have some signs of texture.

It is more textured than not but it isn't that bad. My little man uses single sheets of paper and it isn't much of a difference.

Depending on the size of your four year old. I have a two and a half year old and I am thinking it will only last until he is about four-five. He is big for his age but those chairs are pretty small and my six year old nephew does not fit comfortably in it

I have owned a few of these table/chair sets over the course of 10yrs and they all held up very nicely to the abuse of my boys. I passed them on after my boys grew out of them. Now I have purchased another one for my 16 month old daughter to use as she grows up. We use it for meal time instead of a high chair and she loves to sit at it to read or do puzzles. I would definitely buy it again if I needed to.

I purchased this toy box maybe a week or more ago, and I absolutely love it. It has a lot of room for toys all sizes plus the extra storage at the bottom. I would definitely recommend this toy box!!

It is perfect for my little guy to sit down and color on. He has started to want to color a lot and we needed something for him to color on and this has worked perfectly. He loves it because he thinks he is a big kid. :) Also, the table surface is even and everything is light and easy to move. It is sturdy as well.
