I just started this product about a week ago and she is doing fine. So far no throwing up or diarrhea!

Think the answer depends on the cat. They all have idiosyncrasies. My vet recommended I try using a similar product to help my cat that has Megacolon and is always constipated without medications and laxatives. Since it can soften the stools of a constipated cat; I bet it could cause some cats to have diarrhea; however, I have used this for several other long hair cats of mine with no obvious problems. I found a good quality food (especially those mentioning hairball remedy) to work quite well. I currently have 3 friendly felines and none have hairballs. Can see the hair in the feces.

Hi Catlover2, this product aids in preventing hairballs by in their feces or yes, they occasionally throw it up, but it's a small problem than having my 4 cats hacking trying to get the hairballs passed. I would imagine that if this product was given in large quantities it could cause loose bowels. Hope this helps.

can this cause the cat to throw up and have diariea?

I have bought this product many times over the years and don't ever remember it being sealed.

no seal. i emailed hartz thru their website and they confirmed it has no inner seal beyond the cap.

Is this product supposed to be sealed? I bought a tube, but there is no seal under the lid.

I found nothing on the tube about shelf life. It says to store at room temp. www.hartz.com or call 1-800-275-1414 weekdays 9am-5pm EST.

Hi Midnight, the expiration date on the tubes I bought in May 2014 have is January 2016. But I never have to worry about the expiration date because it is never around this date!

looks like the shelf life is a year or two, after that it would not be dangerous, just runny and probably not effective.

I have 3 cats and 2 dogs...my house is constantly under hair, on and off of the pets...lol

I've been using this product for many many years. Recently we had some bad luck come about our family and we had to cut back on what we bought and/or paid for. My husband had to take over the grocery shopping due to an illness on my part and things I considered most important weren't necessary of that much importance to him. This was one of those items. After not buying it or using it for a little over a year my cats were coughing and choking on hairballs. They never really coughed them up and spit them out until recently. I decided my hubby was not going to buy this at the store so I bought it on line and after just using it for a week or two and giving it to my babies at least once a day they have stopped coughing and choking and all in all act so much better.

There are just some things you can't give up for your babies. :)

Best Remedy Ever!

We have 4 indoor cats. One of them, our 12yr old female Cheyenne, takes this several times daily as she thinks this is a "treat" ! Kroger stopped carrying this exact product, & after buying close to $70 in other products, from the local pet store, I went to Management to special order the Hartz. First time ordered three then went to re-order in 6 packs, I got the run around & no product! Cheyenne was down to the last bit so being a huge Walmart customer online for just about everything I looked & their it was! I can't believe I hadn't looked there first!!! I ordered six tubes & will order more to get us through next Winter. I can't walk through their stores for health reasons, but I know where to go now! I also just found cat treats Temptations in four pack box cheaper than Kroger's 3 for $5! I'VE NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS ORDERING FROM WALMART.COM & I WILL CONTINUE TO PURCHASE FROM WALMART.COM. This product is the one & only one!!!

I bought this when my domestic long hair cats started to suddenly struggle with fur balls after their coat started to really grow in. Once I started this daily treat (dosed per instructions), I haven't had A SINGLE issue with regurgitating or even the dry heaves. And both the boy cats love it! It has become part of our morning routine - one gets his “vitamins” when I put a dose right into the counter, and the other takes his right off the side of the cupboard from floor level. I squeeze out the amount right onto the door of the cupboard and he eats/kicks it off the wall.

Perfect for eliminating hairball "barfs" and occasional constipation in my cat.  She loves the taste.

Using Hartz Hairball Remedy for years!

I tried 2 other brands of hairball relief, my cats wouldn't eat it.  I've used this for years, my 14-year-old Siamese is terrible about barfing up hairballs, which I usually find at 5:30 in the morning with my foot!  This works wonders!  I give her an inch on my finger every morning, and no more messes to clean up or step in.  LOL

I sent for 13 tubes of the Hartz Hairball Plus Paste Remedy. My Kitty which is 8 yrs old and has long fur and has spit up fur balls before I bought this Product but, the last episode scared me when I heard her cry loud which she never has before and I was scared because it was so long and she could have died from this. Thanks to this wonderful product she is doing fine now! I started her out with the Hairball paste for a week and am now doing it 3 times a week. I will cut down to twice a week then once a week for as long as it takes. I got the Salmon which she does like but still takes a little coaching by sneaking up on her and wiping it on her paws.

Is helping with Fur Balls

My cat loves this stuff and the best part is, it actually has kept her from throwing up every other day. She rarely had full hairballs so for a while I didn't know that's what it was. I'm so happy to have found this product for my kitty's tummy.

My cat was coughing up hair balls daily as well as being constipated.  This has resolved the problem.  She seems to love it and eats it every morning.  My other cats won't eat it so I mix in their wet cat food.  Price was great as the local kmart wanted $6.95 a tube.  I wish Walmart carried in the store.

Solved the Problem

The new remedy is very difficult to use. It sticks to my finger, and won't come off. If I put some on a plate, the cat licks and licks, and can't get it. It used to work fine, but not anymore.
One of my cats loves it, so I have been putting his medicine tablet in a bit of the hairball remedy. He used to lick it easily. Now he tries, it either smears on the plate, or just moves a bit. He can't lick it off as he used to. Now gets fed up, and quits, so I have to find another way to give him the med.

Consistency is changed, and doesn't work anymore

This was the main item I needed and I'm not sure why it went from PA to MD??? Only info I see is, that it's delayed
