I would recommend going XL
My son is size 8 & I got him a medium, slightly big but not much

I think he would need a large or xl on boys

The medium is a numeral size 8. My six and seven year old wear a medium in these pants.

He sounds like a large would be better. You should go to Haynes.com and check their size chart, it's more informative.

If he is slender about 125 lbs and over 5' 4" I would consider ordering size 2XL.

not sure what size they go up to but my son is 13 and is 5'4 and the XL just fit exactly. maybe mens small ?

I ordered a L (10-12) for my grandson and they have no pockets and no drawstring they have elastic waist and elastic around bottom hem of legs.

No this does not have a drawstring it is elastic so it is stretchy. It is perfect for what I was looking for.

Great Boys Fleece Pant

My son wants to wear these sweat pants to school, to sleep, just all the time! They are so comfy & the price is right!

Perfect winter pants

Not sure if I will return or hold onto until next year hoping my son will grow into them. You can't beat the price.. My son is 5 and I bough size small because he is very very tall. It was very big all around like a husky size. I do appreciate the Hanes quality and this was the only pair of sweatpants I could find in the past 3 months April/May/June. Most are that shiny polyester material which my son doesn't like the feel of on his legs. (sorry I don't have a better description of that material).

Great pants but ran on the big size in my opinion.

My son refuses to wear jeans, so these sweat pants are great for fall/spring days when it's too warm for heavy sweats. They wash well and are really soft on the inside. My son loves them. Can't go wrong for the price either!

Great for a light pair of sweats

Bought these for our special needs son - has tremors, seizures & hypotonia (all over neurological based weakness). He has difficulty with buttons & zippers. These are durable & easy to put on & off & the elastic ankles keep him from tripping on long pant legs.

I call this product excellent because it in the bottom it has an "elastic waistband" something that you do not need to worry that you have to folded or some sewing.

Nice sweatpants. I ordered the XL because I have found Hanes to run on the small side. The fit was good on my 10 yr old grandson, a little loose but that leaves room for shrinkage.

Good Buy

On the internet the sizing just goes by s, m, l, x-l etc......I wish it would have gone by number size also. I ordered the wrong size for one of my children because of the sizing and had to go to a store to exchange it. The tags also show a numeric size. It's better to provide too much information rather than not enough.

My child wears a 9-10 the only choices were M L XL. The size should be numbers so you know what to order. I went by the Hanes size chart and the smallest I could get was for 10-12 which is too big.
The smaller size was like 6-8. That would have been too small for his 9-10 size. At least he can grow into the bigger size.

Nice but sizing was off

I had purchased a couple older pair of these from a garage sale new with tags, never washed. Size XS (size 4-5) and they fit my tall 4 YO very well so I elected to buy them online in two different colors. I was disappointed to receive them and found the waist is now much larger and my son is unable to wear them because they fall down. The elastic isn't as good as the older ones and my guess is that they have "up sized" to meet societal average which is heavier than in past years. My son is 42" tall and lean. Length wise they are perfect, but the waist is just too large. In all honesty, I really couldn't say if he will even be able to wear them in a year without adding at least 2" to his waistline.
