Thank you for your question. No, the grids are not removable on model 26040. The wattage on the unit is 650W.

unfortunately, no, they aren't removable--although i was initially bummed about this, the grids are very easy to clean with a wet cloth (once unit has cooled)

The grids aren't removable. I cleaned it before first use, oiled it with cooking oil and sprayed it lightly after each waffle. The waffles didn't stick and all I did was wipe it clean after use. The temperature gets so high that I don't think a germ has a chance to survive so I didn't fret about not being able to remove the grids to wash. I have a small brush with a cloth head which fits perfectly between the grids. It can also be used to oil the machine. I don't have a clue about the wattage.

The grids are not removable but the clean-up is still easy and the grids are non-stick. This unit is 650 watts but cooks evenly and each waffle comes out perfectly. It has a light that comes on when the grids are hot enough to add the batter and when the waffle is ready to be removed.

You don't remove the grids to clean them. Yes, it's easy to clean. I tilted it to cool and then wiped it.

You can't remove the grids. I found that wiping with a soapy cloth while waffle maker was still warm made clean up faster and easier. After it had cooled down it was tougher and baked on and more difficult to clean. I was afraid to be too aggressive and scratch the non stick coating.

Thank you for your question. The waffle grid depth is approximately 3/4 inch. Deep grids allow batter to go up to 50% of the height of the grids only, leaving room for waffle to rise while baking. Use pre-measured scoop for the perfect amount of batter. Pre-measured Scoop makes a whole waffle or 8 Waffle Stix (1/2 to 2/3 cup [125 to 150 ml]). Thickness of waffle batters may vary. Adjust amount of batter as needed.

Belgian waffle makers make larger holes than the classic waffle maker. The larger holes are very nice if you add fruit after baking the waffle. Belgian waffle makers make thicker waffles. I love this waffle maker because of the deep wells and no mess. It also cooks the waffles very evenly and just right. I've had several waffle makers in the past but this is the best thus far. It is also compact, easy to store because the cord wraps underneath the unit and it look nice. Very durable product. Very good deal for the price!!

Better than expected!!

After years of being super careful to not overfill the waffle plate, this waffle iron almost eliminates accidental spills. This waffle iron does not have the thermostate dial on the top, but for me that was a plus. I almost did not buy it because I thought it had a dial on top like the one I found at Target with a bigger price tag. For me it is much easier to store with the smooth surface, and the thermostate is not needed. Iron was plenty hot cooking the waffle in 1-2 minutes depending on how brown I wanted it. I like mine light and my husband likes his with a crunch. The measuring cup is perfect for hanging inside the mixing bowl to keep it from falling in and getting the handle full of batter. We had no problem tearing the waffle into waffle sticks although we did not dip them. I can not respond to the durability as we have only been using a little more than a week, but we have made lots of waffles during this time. Easy clean up and store away cord a nice plus.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!

It's a waffle maker and it makes waffles that can be easily broken into strips for dipping as stated in the description. It is non-stick which is great and so far I have had no problems in that department. There are two little plastic prongs on the back where you can wrap the cord which is handy when storing and the waffle maker does not take up much space. There is a red light to let you know the waffle maker is plugged in and on (no on and off switch). There is a green light to let you know the waffle is done. I've not owned this item for a month yet but so far it is working as intended......no problems. I am not sure about the cooking time though - I think it is best to check the waffle before that green light comes on to make sure it is not getting too dark. Waffles come out crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It is a simple, no frills, easy to use item and works fine for me for the price paid.
