It does toast the outside. The inside that is in contact with the meat and eggs is nice and soft.

Yes it does. I put precooked sausage cold in mine and it heats the meat also. Very good hot sandwich!

It doesn't toast as a Toaster would, but does it cooks the bread BETTER keeping it slightly moist almost. I used the machine to do just bread for bagels and english muffins, applying butter to the inside of the bread when I made Oatmeal and it was great.

Just for you, I tested this out today. I removed both circular assembly units (they pop right out) and placed my buttered muffins straight on the "grill." They grill-toasted beautifully! As well, I browned both sides of my sausages using this same method! Both circular assemblies can be removed and then you have a grill. NOTE: There is no recommendation from Hamilton to use this product as a grill; I am a product tester, therefore I try everything! My full review should be posted shortly with photos of how I did it. Hope this helps you in your decision-making. I simply love this BEAST and I really did not think I would -- so that tells you something right there.

I'm pretty sure because you have a timer that you set up. For a harder yoke, they recommend 4 minutes so I'm assuming if you do half that time, the egg will be over easy. I guess you just have to test out the timing.

Yes, that's how I made mine and none of the yolk leaked out, I even used it without using and bread items and the eggs cooked just fine, both running and over easy.

I hear you can make it with a bit of a runny yolk if you just don&#39;t cook the sandwich as long. IE: Try 3 minutes instead of 4.

That just depends on how long you cook it. Cook it less, and you get softer eggs, more harder eggs. It has a timer on it.

The product is simple to use. You plug it in, wait for the Ready light to shine, and start layering all the items. After all the items are layered, you close the lid, and set the time (recommended for 4 to 5 minutes), and within minutes you have yourself a yummy meal!
