Thank you for your question. This unit uses 8 to 12 basket style paper filers and you can brew up to 12 cups of coffee at one time.

The filters I had were from a Bunn I had previously bought. They are a little tall but because the filter drops in, not sides in its ok. So I would say any size filter will work. Yes it will hold enough grounds to make 12 cups. The filter cup is pretty big.

It takes a normal size round shaped filter that you use in any 12 cup coffee maker. As far brewing the amount of coffee you want at a time is entirely up to you. It just depends on how much water you put in the reservoir to brew. You can brew up to 12 cups at a time.

Regular basket type paper filter. I use 6 scoops for 12 cups-never tried more as this makes the coffee we like with only 6 scoops. Filter stays pretty wet after brewing.

I use 8oz cups so had to adjust.
Once you get it right, its perfect.
Keeps coffee warm for hours, but dont go below one cup remaining.
It burns it.

We purchased this coffee maker when the first one (same make and model) stopped working after providing many mornings of quality coffee making.

Liked the first one

I previously had one of these and absolutely loved, loved, loved it. And it appeared they had stopped making it, as it was hard to find. 

When this new one arrived, I was so excited %26 tried to put it right to work when I noticed that the hinge on the lid was broken off, just like it appears many others had also.

I really wanted to make coffee in it, but I contacted Hamilton Beech by e-mail to see if the would send me a new tank and/or lid. They wrote back that they don't honor warranty for products damaged during shipment %26 to take it back to retailer. I wrote them back that nowhere was any broken piece found in the box %26 the box was not damaged in the least, so it was not damaged in shipment. I am now awaiting their reply, but I just might buy a new one with fingers crossed that I get a good lid %26 return the other one. 

If the new one comes in the same, I may just keep it as like I have said, I loved this coffee pot...or I should say coffee machine as one of the benefits is...is that there is no pot!

One other thing, the heater element will eventually burn out after a couple/few years, but again, I love this machine so much, it's still worth having. Besides, most coffee machines eventually die also. I also wonder if these are refurbished. Hence, some of the complaints on the broken hinge. It's till worth it in my mind.
