The Hamilton Beach Belgian Waffle Maker does the job.  Any wiggle room in the hinge doesn't make any difference. It takes a little practice to make the perfect waffle.
I have some experience making waffles ... I add an extra egg to the recipe, some vanilla and a tablespoon or two of sugar to my usual all-purpose mix.  My friends came over for breakfast and really enjoyed them.  Another tip is to warm up some syrup and a little butter and fruit.  You can't beat this unless you add some whipped cream!

Terrific Waffle Maker...Just Use the Right Recipe

I like that this steams the waffle and gave instructions in the booklet that when the steam is done the waffle is done and that is correct.  The less batter that is in there the crispier the waffle is but it is edible and is like a pizzelle cookie that you buy at the store.  Also you should put a baking pan under the waffle iron in case the batter spills over so that you don't have to clean the mess or the mess is easier to clean from the counter top.  Other than that the waffle slides easily off the waffle iron if you put the oil on as directed and it is relatively easy to clean afterwards by wiping off with a cloth.  If you eat breakfast often I would recommend this waffle maker.

I used the recipe that came in the instruction booklet and the waffles were fabulous.I used a store bought Butter Rich Syrup on the waffles. Hubby really enjoyed them with sausage Pattie's. Next time I will try with bacon. I forgot to take a picture of the fluffy waffles.

But I do now. I have already used it several times. My boys love waffles.
This is a perfect size for us. Made them so fluffy and delicious.  Cooked evenly and in no time at all the boys were eating them.
Clean up was so easy all i really had to do is wipe it clean.

Some of the waffle makers I had took forever to heat up, not this one.  Clean up was fast also, the waffle didn't stick to the plates. Makes great waffles

We were utterly delighted by how easy this machine was to operate and make perfect waffles. It preheats quickly and cooks waffles in about 5-6 minutes. The directions say to wait until the steam subsides and if you follow the instructions  you'll get picture-perfect waffles. We made smaller waffles because we were unsure of how much they would spread, but next time, we will likely use more batter. The waffles were gold brown and had just the right amount of crispness. It was easy to tell when they were done. It was also very easy to clean. We highly recommend this product!

Waffle maker

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I made my first batch of waffles ever at midnight after a long day at work. They were surprisingly good! This waffle maker is rather simplistic, which makes it easy to use. I did notice that the heating might be a little uneven if you leave it open for a long time. I learned that closing it in between batches, and pouring the batter quickly made my waffles much better! I highly recommend reading the instruction booklet. It has a lot of good tips! The basic waffle recipe from the booklet tastes better than store-bought waffle mix.

Great waffles after some practice!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used my Belgium waffle maker on Sunday, September 24. After wiping it down and spraying nonstick spray on plates, I plugged it in. Once the green light on top indicates it was ready, I poured my batter on it and shut the lid. First thing I noticed was there was condensation that dropped off the sides onto the counter. I didn't like that. There was no plate that came with it to put under waffle maker to catch the water. I also didn't like that there was no internal or external timer. I had to used my stove's timer to keep track. I could see this being an issue and perhaps even dangerous if someone was distracted and didn't keep time/watch. The plates seemed larger than other waffle makers but, as noted by picture, it isn't. What IS different is the shape and size of the pegs that indent the waffle when lid is closed. They are larger and square. Perhaps this is why the waffle didn't raise or become fluffy?

I checked on the waffle at three minutes and five minutes. Once done (about six minutes), I pulled the waffle off the plates. I noticed that the waffle was flatter than other waffle makers that I have previously used. The waffle was also more dense and heavy. It wasn't light and fluffy.

It should be noted that I used a boxed waffle mix, the same mix I always use (Krusteaz light and crispy Belgian waffle mix). I made three waffles and the length of time to cook them was the same as well as how dense the waffles were. I didn't use any of the recipes contained in the manual. I do appreciate them, though. I will try them in the future. 

Even though the waffles were more dense, it did help to keep the waffle's shape when putting a topping on it or dipping it in apple butter. That helped overcome the lack of lightness. 

In summary, I enjoyed using the waffle maker.

Waffling in the waffle maker...

I have instructions with Walmart and FedEx as to how my packages should be delivered. Instead it was ignored and delivered in the hallway outside of the front door!!! Not at my apartment!!!!
