dry beans are a great food source for emergency times when you can't get out like in heavy snows or bad weather. I don't know the exact shelf life of dry beans but as long as they are sealed and no moist air or water gets to them it would be quite a while.

If kept in an air tight container the beans will keep indefinitely (30 years or more) and not toughen at all (just have to soak them first when they do toughen). Dried beans keep; and I personally have kept beans for a long time with no trouble. Thank you.

Beans can keep almost forever. The problem one runs into is that over time, they lose their nutritional value. Also, I have kept pinto beans so long that they simply do not cook well, are tough, lose softness. It&#39;s best to keep beans in an air tight container in an average house hold cool area out of bright light. You could do searches to find out more information. My reply is from my personal experience and knowledge.

I bought these beans of course for their nutritious value; but, also because of the quantity and the price. Most dry beans in stores are packaged as 16oz, so this was truly a valuable buy for me, and I will buy this great value again. I hope more dry beans are packaged as 8 lbs.

These beans are received clean and whole, I do not sort and wash them.  The Walmart value is exceptional for this level of quality, and delivery is very prompt.  After removing 2 cups look at how much is left.  Delivery, Cost and Customer Service are outstanding.

I ordered these pinto beans online, hoping for fresh beans. The price was fair. The more expensive Faraon pinto beans were even worse. Zero stars. The Great Value beans  were too dark for my liking. I can't find them nice and fresh and pale colored instore either. Will have to buy the store brand at HEB again.

Beans arrived box was in good condition. Bag was open half of them were floating around the inside of the box. It looked as thought the bag had been cut partially with a razor knife.
