I use empty cans with the tops and bottoms cut out. 3 cans holds the tray up high enough to keep it out of the water and still let the steam work.

Turn it over so the open part is on the bottom of the pan, and the holes are on the top. Then add water to just below the holes, add your item to be steamed, and turn it on. If you are afraid it will boil dry, you can add boiling water to it, just remember to stop before you reach the holes.

don't know if i am missing something or what. how does the steamer tray sit above the water.

I use 3 empty cans. cut the tops and bottoms out, holds the tray up high enough to get the steam.

Put the rack in the pot so that the open side is down and the holes are up. It will work nicely then.

How do you use the steamer, specifically?

The pot is a blue-black with white speckles. I don't know who makes it.

I grew up around Granite Ware. My mother grew up around Granite Ware so the love for the products go way back. The roasters are awesome and clean up easy. This stock pot with the steamer insert will get years of use. I know from experience. They hold up well.

I grabbed 2 of these to replace my older set. when I got home and took off the wrapping I saw the porcelain was already chipped. Now I have to return it and hope another is in stock. Besides that I'm sure its a good stock pot. The 2nd one is fine with no blemishes, scratches, etc. Had both arrived in that condition I'd give 5 stars.

Stock Pot w/ Steamer Insert

The pot is very nice. I just wish the people that packaged it used bubble wrap or some type of cushion in the box with it, no matter what kind of item it is. Things can still be damaged. The pot lid was gouged and black chips were in the bottom of the box. Evidently the box was dropped.

It's a big pot but the steamer rack is only 2 inches. Can not add enough water to steam

“Sold as a  tamale steamer”

I liked the size of the pot, only issue I had with it is after using it once and upon washing it, the pot kept letting go of its color. Black while washing it the water kept coming out black, the suds were black, my kitchen sponge was black. I didn't find any instructions as far as prepping it before use.

The unfortunate thing about this material is it can chip off and when it does you can get a splinter from it. I had 3 splinters in my thumb from the lid same day I got it- I needed the pot badly or I probably would have returned. Also not supposed to lift by handles if it's more than half full- I feel like that defeats the purpose of a pot.

Pot was delivered dented and damaged!!!!!  This is a frequent problem with Walmart Winter Haven. Three weeks in a row I've received damaged goods from this store. And I wasted a $5 coupon and a driver tip!  I'm done!

I received the steam pot with out the lid. It's obviously useless with out the lid.

Missing lid

Used it three times now, no issues the first two times but this time the burner on my stove started melting it somehow?! I had to scoop all of my chili out of it since it was STUCK to the burner! I was able to get it off the burner once I turned the burner off and let it sit for a minute. The soup was a complete throwaway and now the pot is too. I'm confused as to what happened! I never turned the burner all the way to high.
