Just what I expected from Gerber. Lightweight and does the job. Took it on a 3-day camping trip, cut some vines and whacked some small brush. NOT for heavy duty jungle ops, but perfect for lightweight packing and medium duty use in the field. Great value.

Can't beat the price

Gerber makes great products and the Gator Jr is no exception. I know I'll be enjoying this one for many years. You can't beat the quality for the value.

Best little machete for the value.

NICE MACHETE

The handle is the gator-back surface rubber, which is excellent. Blade finish and quality is top-shelf. Very pleased.

the quality and value far exceeded my expectations

We use it for backpacking. It slides in beside hydration bladder in my pack. Awesome to cut brush on trails by streams that are over grown. Great for collecting smaller wood for fire.

I almost bought the SOG 10" Tanto but after reading many reviews I decided to go with the Gerber Machete Jr. It seems very well made and solid. Despite some saying it was a bit dull I found it very sharp out of it's packaging. I haven't used it yet but I would think it would stand up to the jobs expected to be performed with a any good machete. A quality product for sure.

Great Machete

Since this is my first machete, I thought I'd better start out with something shorter than a standard machete.   I am no expert and am still learning how best to use it, but I find it very useful for my purposes and I think it's a good deal for the price.

Pretty useful tool

Excellent hand grip for small or large hands. Blade is not ultra sharp but easy to sharpen (if you choose). Very pleased with this purchase.

Serated edge is sharp.
Bad:
Knife not very sharp at all when purchased.

But its a huge knife with an awesome price.
Would recommend buying a cheap sharpening kit.

Now thats a knife.

After reading reviews I won't be purchasing this product.  87 5star vs 55 1star!!!  Build a better product for the field or advertise it in the gardening section.
