Customer Product Reviews

Rated 4.4 out of 5★ by 78reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5★ by Great USB hub Because I have so many usb devices hooked to my computer, I was using 6 different 4-port hubs. About a year ago, I purchased some 7 port hubs that were guaranteed to read 2.0 usb devices, but they only read some of them so I had to go back to my 4-port hubs. These seven port hubs are excellent. They are much more durable than other hubs I have had and have an on/off power switch to save power when the hubs are not needed. I really like these hubs. 05/20/2011
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Just what I needed This usb hub is perfect for my needs. I didn't know that it has a sticky strip on the bottom (it's sticky but it's not adhesive) so it stays in place on my desk behind my monitor which I really like. 06/16/2011
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Outstanding value for the $ I have two of these, and I haven't found a better value. I consider myself a PC expert, since I've built several systems from scratch. A powered USB hub is the best value, because different devices require different power levels, and you really don't know how much power any given USB device needs. Un-powered hubs just don't provide enough power for multiple USB devices, and you can easily ruin a USB device, especially an external HD, if you don't provide enough power. 12/01/2013
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Great for PRO users that need 7 USBpowered ports 7 ports and powered, self stick base if needed. The energy saver switch is a good idea, just remember to tun it on to utilize all the powered ports, However it has a light and that is GREAT. The vertical slots are just wide enough apart to accommodate big fingers. Gear head is a good company with lots of devices to offer at a 60 inch permanently attached regular 2.0 USB standard male plug that allows you to plug to the back of difficult to reach USB ports in the back of the computer, detachable power supply ample cord length. Bought this device UH7500ESP for my system and a 4 port USB powered device UH5200T for my neighbors system see other review for that. 03/13/2012
Rated 3 out of 5★ by Worked great at first, then started having problem After around 6 months of use, this is no longer working. Worth trying if all your devices are USB 2 and self-powered and you have no more than 2 devices on it (not counting thumb drives) - certainly the best USB 2 hub I was able to find, which is a sad statement as this device seems to be underpowered and simply doesn't hold up. It may have 7 ports, but (like almost all USB hubs) it does not actually supply enough power to use all 7 ports at once (unless you are only plugging in thumb drives), and this seems to be the case even if your devices are separately powered (apparently even separately powered USB devices need to draw some power from the USB port - I wonder who thought THAT was a good idea. I guess it's a symptom of the modern manufacturing mantra of "chintz out, cut costs and build as substandard as you can get away with so you can make more profit, profit, profit - and, hey, if the customer has to throw it away in 6 months that just means they have to buy another one!! Whoo hoo! At this point, I am so jaded and disgusted. Sigh.) Anyway, I bought this to connect 3 external Western Digital hard drives to my pc. All 3 hard drives have their own power supply, 1 is USB 2 and two are USB 3 (but supposedly backward compatible with USB 2). This hub worked great initially, but starting in December my hard drives started to disconnect randomly. When this happened, I would get the dreaded "You need to format drive X. Click yes or no", with yes picked as default (!!?!! why Evilsoft has not fixed that software idiocy yet is beyond me - at least default should be "no" so you don't accidentally wipe your data. Yet another sigh. Anyway, if you ever get this message, always click NO!!!) So when my drives disconnected, at first I could reconnect them by unplugging and then reconnecting, but gradually the problem happened more and more often until it happened every time I went to use the computer. Eventually, even completely powering down and disconnecting the drives from the hub and the power supplies didn't help and nothing I could do would get the drives recognized through the hub. Needless to say, I had no problems at all when I connected the drives directly to the pc. I suspect the power saving features of this hub may be to blame and/or that it cannot handle USB 3 devices and/or just poor design - who knows? Either way, after less than 6 months, the device was no longer working properly. I decided to get a USB 3 hub that also provided more power and eventually settled on a Pluggable model which I just started using this week and which seems to be handling my external drives better. 01/17/2013
Rated 3 out of 5★ by Even with the AC cord the hub did not charge iPad or connect iPhone to computer. 09/29/2011
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Quite happy Unique shape, optional power (meaning you can run it without plugging in the power) and yet having the power to turn on when you want to run extra devices ... nice set up. Nice sticky bottom to hold it in place. Great product! 01/24/2012
