Excalibur Dehydrator

I have tried several other dryers and this is the only one that drys the food evenly on every tray even front to back without having to rotate the trays. The screens on the trays seem pretty easy to clean. The only thing that has stained them was tomatoes. That left a little stain like when you cook tomato products in plastic in a microwave. But everything else comes right off with just warm soap and water. The fan is reasonably quiet. The unit has 9 trays so that is a lot of food to dry at once if you are not into a lot at once. Each tray will hold approximately 3 apples so that would be about 30 apples in each session (just to give you an idea of how much the unit holds). I would recommend this dryer to others who dry a lot of food each year. I have made jerky (word to the wise don't try to buy cheap meat), pears (my favorite), blue berries, grapes (makes great raisins) and raspberries. I found it is best to only dry one thing at a time because different things dry at different lengths of time but as you see in my pictured I did do a lot of things at once just to try it. It is a big investment compared to the $25 ones you see on AS SEEN ON TV but worth the money if you are a serious food dryer. Now if we have a major disaster and the power goes off for a couple of weeks, I don't have to worry so much about all my stuff spoiling in the freezer. If you want to see my reviews of other dryers compared to this Excalibur, go to www.goldenmailbox.com/ep/ then click on the food dryers button.
