Absolutely, This is actually what it is designed for. This unit only has a 1A output and is not ideal for recharging dead batteries. This unit is designed to connect to vehicles or batteries that are being stored or parked for a period of time to keep the battery charged. It can charge a battery however depending how deeply discharged the battery is it may take a long time to charge.

The Everstart 12V Automotive/Marine Battery Charger and Maintainer is a very tiny and compact unit that is very easy to use and helps to keep your battery charged and ready to go. This little unit comes complete with battery clamp connectors and ring terminal connectors. The Everstart 12V Automotive  Battery Charger/Maintainer is easy to use. All you have to do is hook it up and plug it in. But please do read the instructions first. This Everstart Battery Charger/Maintainer is more of a maintainer than a charger and will not work if the battery is below 2V. There are also 3 indicator lights on the front of the unit that will let you know that the battery is charging, fully charged or if the terminals are in the reverse order. The Everstart 12V Automotive/Marine Battery Charger and Maintainer is perfect for keeping a battery charged on seasonal vehicles like boats, motorcycles, and RV's. We are using this on the Volkswagen Jetta. The car hasn't been drivin much and is in the garage awaiting warmer weather. This little charger unit also makes a great Christmas gift for the mechanic in your life or anyone who needs to keep a charge on their 12V battery.

Perfect for Maintaining any 12V Battery

Picked up an EverStart 12V Automotive/Marine Battery Maintainer.  You will note I state Maintainer not charger as it is more of a Battery Trickle charger than a batter charger for most applications. 
I will explain further. This device is held to an DC Output of about 1 amp which is perfect for maintaining a battery charge while a battery is not in use. 

I use it on my 12 volt Deep Cycle Battery and it works perfectly for keeping the battery at full charge. I have included picture showing the actual milliamps being generated/pulled. 
You will note it is at 1254 milliamps which = 1.254 amp (1.3 rounded up). This is exactly the right amount of current to do the job of tending/maintaining a 12 volt battery. 
You will note that once the battery was to full capacity, the milliamps dropped to 0, but in reality, the milliamps will move up or down as needed, which is what you want to tend/maintain a 12 volt battery.

Yes, you can get bigger ratings from larger devices, but if you are not actually doing a deep cycle full charge, this is perfect. If you intend to use this after depleting your battery to a low capacity, then this is 
not the device for that purpose. 

This I use this on a boat battery, but could be used on a car/boat/truck/van/vehicle that has a 12 Volt systems battery from getting slowly drained over long periods of non battery use (not being charged by the main system).

EverStart 12V Automotive/Marine Battery Maintainer

The EVERSTART 12V AUTO/MARINE BATTERY CHARGER AND MAINTAINER (BM1E) is a 1 AMP trickle charger/maintainer. It is ideal for keeping my deep cycle marine battery fully charged and ready to go. I use this charger when I pull the battery out of my boat for a few days to keep its charge at full during non- use. I got this unit to replace a different brand unit that quit working. I have only been using this unit for 2 weeks and so far, it is performing well and doing its job. Only time will tell how long it will last as in my experience it seems that any brand of these 1 AMP charger/maintainers only work for a couple of years. This EVERSTART CHARGER/MAINTAINER (BM1E) comes with long cords plus 2 separate type of battery connecters: alligator clips and ring terminals and LED status lights that indicate: charging, fully charged and if you connected it to the battery wrong!

Trickle charger.

I'm using this battery charger as a maintainer on my 50 year old Alfa.  The poor car doesn't get much use in the winter and the battery dies.  It was easy to wire this into the battery terminals and tuck the small ISO connector away.  The charger itself is so tiny I almost want to just leave it in the car.  It's also got clamps so you can use it to charge a battery on pretty much anything.  It's only 1 amp so expect to leave this overnight.

Great for maintainer

This EverStart Battery Charger and Maintainer (BM1E) charges and maintains my 12V automotive and marine batteries no problem. It works for me and is easy to set up and use. It is a fully automatic 1 Amp Battery maintenance charger. It is a bit slow but as you know, the slower the charge the better it is for the battery. Very clear directions are included. Comes with extra-long cabling for convenient garage or basement connection to an AC power source. It has a compact, lightweight polymer housing. It says it works with most lead-acid batteries including GEL, ADM and WET. It offers a charging and fully charged status indicator and a reverse connection warning. Includes battery clamps and battery ring terminals. I also read some other reviews saying it suddenly just stopped working and so far I have not had that issue. Overall, so far its been great and it does come with a limited one year warranty.

Great little charger ! It seems to be made with quality materials . There are three bright easy to read different colored lights that come on individually to tell you what phase the charge is in . Charging, charged and error. I used it to charge up one of our spare vehicle batteries in our shop. Plugged it in at closing time and it was charged fully the next day at open. Its the size of a short extension code so easy to store .

Great Compact Charger !

We havent needed to use this to charge a battery yet so i cant say how it works as far as that goes. But my husband did hook it up to check out battery. Its very easy to connect to the battery to check. Its small and compact, making it fit very easily without taking up a lot of room in the trunk.

Easy to use

We keep an extra battery in our garage and this charger worked perfectly to charge it.
In AZ, our car batteries are lucky to last 2.5 years due to the heat. This charger is easy
to use, comes with everything you need, and works on marine batteries too, it is very small 
in size, and has indicator lights. It worked quite quickly and would make a great gift
for someone who would never think to buy one for themselves!

I am only giving this item 4 stars because I have not actually had to use it, as yet. However, it looks like it will be an absolute LIFESAVER when my battery dies one cold and snowy morning! I like that it is small and compact and can be easily stowed in the glove compartment until needed. I’ve taken mine out of the cardboard packaging and placed it- and the very handy, step-by-step detailed instructions, in a zip lock bag- for easier storage. I was a little intimidated by the process, at first- but after a quick read through the booklet, I see that it is really quite simple to use this product to charge a battery. I am proud to maintain  my independence and I don’t like to have to rely on others, particularly with mechanical issues. This easy to use battery charger will help me to do just that.
