Good question, i'm having trouble confirming the voltage of this battery.
Series power sources add voltage. Max current is dictated by the lowest rated battery.
Parallel power sources add current while keeping the voltage the same.

If using 2 6volt batteries to get 12 volts, you need to connect in series, just like putting AA batteries into a remote control.

Most chargers don't go up to 55 amp but you should consider something greater than a trickle charger.

you will want to wire in parallel......... for 12 volts in series you will have 24 v. a 30 or 40 amp charger that is self tapering should be more than enough

You would hook them in parallel, also a regular charger would be ok ,like a 6 to 10 amp, (but the charger depends on how you are going to use the batteries) there is no free lunch, if you use 60 amps for one hour,out of the batteries it will take the charger aprx 10 hours at 6 amps to put it back, also batteries in parallel over time dont reach a full charge, one will reach the charger cut off voltage sooner than the other and will not recieve a full charge, after time (maybe years) it will fail..

Most Marine applications use a 12 VOLT battery. Now, depending on the CHARGER, it will place 14.5 to 14.75 volts When under FULL CHARGE ( say 10 AMPS) into the Battery. Now think of this : Suppose your BATTERY is drained to 40% of Charge. ? What will the Charger do? A: It will apply 14.25 VOLTS (Because of the Internal Resistance of the Battery) to the full bank of cells, and try to Pump 10 AMPS of CURRENT. Ohm&#39;s LAW tells us that POWER=CURRENT X VOLTAGE, so you are going to be putting 140 WATTS of Power into the battery. Aside from the chemical re-combination, this means HEAT!. So your Battery is going to WARM up, as the current flows over time. The Type of CHARGER will determine the MAXIMUM power you can put back into the battery, a 110 A/H (amps per Hour) only relates to the CHARGE CURRENT over time, so this is NOT a valid measure. The TRUE Measure is the INSTANTANEOUS CURRENT, when the Battery is Charging through the begining to the end. It will start High, then taper off , as the battery gets charged up. .... in Batteries, the CHARGE RATE is specified by the BATTERY MFG. Usually 1C or 0.5C (C is the Charge RATE, not Degrees C). So, to recap, YOUR choices of CHARGER are 55A/H or 110 A/H. Great ! Buy the HEAVIER rated (110 A/H) charger, as it will put out LESS HEAT Losses, than the 55A/H one. The second thing is to ONLY CHARGE one Battery at a TIME. As the overall CELL VOLTAGE is what will change as it is getting charged From a LOW of 1.50 Volts to a HIGH of 2.33 (or 10 to14). IF the VOLTAGE is allowed to DROP BELOW 1.5 then the Chemistry will not function as well, and over time the battery will fail (not KEEP a charge).

So, Keep in mind the HARDER you charge the BATTERY during the re-charge phase, the SHORTER its LIFESPAN will be, and as a conservative estimate allow 1000 to 1400 cycles of charge / DISCHARGE per the life of the battery. IF you get 2000 cycles out great!, but if you treat the battery by ONLY giving it 0.7 to 0.8 C of Charge per cycle , it will last longer. (than if you gave the FULL 1C) charge rate.

The WIRING in your case is in PARALLEL, but I would not do it, because, the FLOAT VOLTAGE of the Charger will compensate for the highest VOLTAGE battery, and the lower batter will get an UNDERCHARGE, relative to its neighbour, and not survive long.

IF you have TWO Batteries for your Boat, One for Starting, and the other for Accessories, then get TWO DIFFERENT batteries, and Charge them with the Appropriate charger. A DEEP DISCHARGE Battery for the Accessories, and a regular (like this one ) for the STARTING of the motor. When finished with a day&#39;s activities, CHARGE the STARTER Motor at 0.8C and the Deep Discharge at 1/2C rate. (but your CHARGER is what makes the Difference) IF you CAN, get two chargers , the 110A/H for the Starter Battery and the 55A/H one for the Accessories. The TWO chargers will take different TIMEs to re-charge the batteries, but they will be consistantly given the CORRECT Charge for what they need... IMHO. (40+ years with electricity and DC systems, 10+ dealing specifically with batteries).

Im wireing two of these in series or is it paralell / keeping the 12 volts supply. Would I need to get a 55 a/h charger or a 110 a/h.

This is a standard 'flooded' battery, not a gel. Gel batteries (AGM) are typically a lot more expensive.

That is a standard lead acid flooded battery.

This appears to be a FLOODED-LEAD ACID Battery. AGM are Absorbed Glass MATT, and this refers to the insulation between the TWO PLATES of lead sandwich. AGM Batteries need a HIGHER VOLTAGE to charge properly, so for this type (Ordinary Lead Acid) , you would set the charger for ORDINARY.

** unless when you get to the store and it specifically says AGM or Absorbed Glass Matt, or similar on the package.

*** Charge the battery in an open SPACE such as an open Car Port, not a Downstairs Basement, as ALL Lead Acid Batteries give off Hydrogen Gas as they are CHARGING, and as they DISCHARGE as well. (just not the same amounts)...

You posted this on a Group 24 battery page. Group 24 is a "standard size" (think 60's - 90's Chevy) 12 volt battery.

This is a marine battery and I cannot recommend that it be used for anything other than what it is designed for.

These batteries are 12 VOLT, so depending on the MOTOR in your setup, IF you had 2 Batteries, that were wired in SERIES with the MOTOR, 2 x 6 volts, that would be the same as 1 x 12 volt.....

However, since this is for a GOLF CART, I am assuming then that is 1 Battery, and this WOULD FRY the controller , and Overload the MOTOR, now we would not want you to get a speeding ticket on the cartway, would we?.....

The 6V GOLF CART series of Batteries are available, as well as 6V &quot;Farm and Tractor&quot;, but typically they are not &quot;Mass Market&quot; items. so would not be carried by your local WM. Check the Auto Speciality Stores in your Area, and Find out the Existing Type of Battery in the cart, or the Model from Online. Hope this helps.

I don't understand the comments here, this IS NOT a deep cycle battery, it is a MArine STARTING battery so using it for a trolling motor is an improper use of the unit. Also most any battery that sits in your boat for months with no tender will be bad when you come back. For me I actually use these for my 24 Volt Dozer but no matter what you have to keep a charger on them if your not going to use them for months at a time.

Good Low Cost Battery

This battery has served me very well, I would recommend it.
I bought this battery 9/2008 for my 115hp Yamaha, it failed to take a charge today, 4/2014. That's just over 5 years of service. Granted I used it lightly, but never charged it over the winter months, in North Florida.
I will be buying another tomorrow. Marine cranking amps 625 @ 32 degrees, cold cranking amps 500.

Good Marine starting battery, NOT deep cycle

I have had this battery on a RV 34ft 2 slides for 4years, and it will still charge, but needs replaced dropping amps from 12.27 to 10 when I run the front jack up and down. I use the rv 45 days a year. Just remember Walmart is open 24/7 if replacement is needed....

My plan is to use this battery as the main power supply for the Ham Shack. All of the lights are already LEDs and Most everything can be run either by straight 12V or through the 500W inverter. The radios are 5 Watts each, HF and VHF/UHF. Tower outside has long dipoles and a super discone.

The beauty of this battery is that it is ideal for long periods of medium-low amperage. I am using a house-current Minder to make sure it is always ready to go. We had a power outage just last week, which showed up a few things that need to be finished.

Solar really doesn't matter much for now with such short time duration blackouts. This will let us operate for hours.

So the main maintenance task is to never use super-fast chargers. It is not designed for that. Check water levels religiously. Another thing is to make absolutely sure you never, ever, draw a spark on the top of the battery, especially after charging. Hydrogen mixes with oxygen, releasing lots of heat. It can actually explode.

There are a lot of uses where this is the ideal solution. Have fun.

Ham radio room to be all 12VDC

This batter did more than the job. A brand new, fully charged batter with great cranking power was what I wanted and that is what I got. The price was very reasonable and I would recommend this batter to anyone. Thanks Walmart.

CHEAP BATTERY NO SLOUCH

I use 4 of these batteries in my Travel Trailer hooked up to a 160 watts of Solar, 10 amp Charge controller & 2500 watt inverter (mod sine wav ) . Purchased in May 2012 and still cranking up today6/24/2014. I run my Walmart Mini fridge, Microwave, LED lights and Heat all on these batteries NOT ALL TOGETHER !! but they work fine. The trick to keeping these batts in good shape is to check the water regularly and keep them charged all the time. My Charge controller works like a Battery tender when not under load so i am always at 12.8 trickle charge and 13.8 when charging.

Great Battery for the money

I purchased a battery last year from an auto parts store. As it started to warm up in February I went to start my 1988 motorhome and the battery was dead. I tried to charge it. It would not take a charge. I returned to the auto parts store I bought it from and was told it only has a 1 year warranty. I did a little research and discovered deep cycle batteries need charged often. They are designed to discharge over time. I also found out it is common to only get a one year warranty on deep cycle RV/marine battery. I'm hopeful the Everstart Marine battery will last more than a year.

Good basic battery

So I decided to grab this battery for its price. The reviews were good except for those trying to use the battery as a deep cycle battery which its not so I got it. Anyway I haven't had it long but it does what I need it to do which is start a 1972 55hp bearcat. I did wonder if the 625 marine cranking amps would be enough but its more than enough.. Great buy overall and couldn't find a better deal.. Although Academy did have there starting battery on sale for $69.99 (1000 MCA)...

Bought this in spring 2014 for my jet boat . worked fine for first year kept it on a tender  in winter. used it once or twice in winter when power went out on my converter to power a few LED lights. Will not hold a charge this spring. Up in air about purchasing another...

Lasted almost  2 yrs

Used on a pontoon boat and maybe cranked 40 times in a year. When battery was 10 months old, had to charge with remote charger. Battery sat for 2 more months, cranked up fine. One month later tried to crank but battery dead. Would not take charge. Called Walmart in Sebring Fl and clerk said there was only a 90 day warranty, but now I see where there is free replacement for 1 year. Unfortunately because we only use the boat on maybe two weekends a month during the summer our warranty ran out before we could detect the problem. Purchased 3-8-13. Would not buy this battery again.
