Built very strongly, does not feel cheap!

Very awesome fly rod!!

Not the best looking rod but it performs superbly and the price is phenomenal. I understand that Walmart is now out-of-stock of the rod. I hope it's just temporary as I'd like to get another. Although designated a 5/6wt, it's definitely a 6wt and seems underlined with a 5 wt line. Jim

Terrific Rod

Less than $25, I should have bought two or three of these. It is better than expected. I read the reviews from other sites and agree with them. This is great. It doesn't have a twenty five year warranty but if it breaks just throw it away. You can do that 16 times for the price of other glass rods. In a hobby that scares people away with its high prices this is a breath of fresh air. And hey, I like the yellow color. I wonder if I could powder coat one of my reels to match!

Best for the price

I cast much better with this rod because it is very forgiving.  When I cast I tend to over power the rod resulting in shorter casts.  This rod is 4 wt as written on it.  Fly fishing for carp on this light rod is an awesome thrill and is like bone fishing in my local creek up north.

Perfect for over powerful casters

This ultralight fiberglass rod is an awesome addition to anyone's fly rod collection. It is NOT one of those high tech, nano fiber, cross-linked, titanium embedded, space aged super rods that come with a built in fish finder and autocaster. This is a simple fiberglass rod. Thirty years ago, it would have been considered a world class rod. Today, people laugh at it. But, if you want to have fun catching fish on an ultralight setup, this is a great way to start. It is also a great and forgiving rod to use when teaching young ones the art of fly fishing.

When purchased for the right application, I would recommend this rod to anyone!

Awesome SLOW FIBERGLASS Rod

The 7' flyrod casts well with a 5 wt. line. The mid-section near the joint seems a bit large and stiff; but, after casting it some. It seems to make it a little faster action, rather than a slow action (as many of the old fiberglass rods were very slow action). Overall, for small creeks and ponds, where you don't need to cast too far ... this rod will work great and is a real deal for the price!

Eagle Claw Featherlight 7' Flyrod is a bargain!

I had owned a featherlite 6 ft. 6 in. fly rod before. I decided to try the 7 ft. rod to maybe get a little more distance on my cast, which I did. I also needed a short rod, as I fish a lot on small brushy streams. I used the rod last Wednesday, caught several trout and was pleased with the rod. I was using a double taper #6 floating line, I haven't tried my #6 rocket taper floating line yet.

A good fly rod for the price.

The reel seat is a bit rough, and the finish is maybe not as smooth as it could be. But for $20 this is a great rod. It is much better casting than I expected, and that's what really matters.

Great bargain

As a spare rod this will do just fine and will work as a beginner rod or childs rod just great too. As a first rod buy the 8 foot and use 5 wt. line.

Original rod was much lighter weight i/e 3or4 wt

I had to return it to Walmart. The top half when seating and turning pulls out no matter what you do.  I have the 6.5' 3 Wt and it's wonderful but I was able to look at that one in person to make sure all was well.  I wasn't able to do that with this 7' and won't buy another unless I can handle it before buying.

Eagle Claw Featherlight 7' Flyrod - Returned

The wal mart product description for this fly rod lacks proper description because fly rods are suitable for different types and weights of fish caught. This fly rod is marked on the rod itself with "line wt 5/6 ".. This information is critical to the buyer because this rod is suitable for light to medium trout fishing and probably not suitable for salmon and fishing in Alaska as the fish there are usually large. The stiffness or flexibility of the rod should correlate to the fishing conditions and fish caught. Nowhere in the product description does wal mart show the proper rating of this fly rod. Fly rods marked with "line wt. (weight) 3/4 " for example, are suitable only for small brook trout and not large fish. A DIFFERENT ISSUE IS, this product was picked up in person at wal mart but for the estimated 12 items that i ordered online and delivered to my home, wal mart never puts the date on the receipt.!!! This is very irritating to me. Wal mart needs to put a date on a receipt for ALL DELIVERED TO HOME ITEMS.!!!
