Thank you for your question! You can poke the top of the liner with a straight pin, or bend back the corner of the tape back and forth to make the liner release.

How do you get the backing off of the tape ?  I have wasted much time trying to get it started.

This is my first year of covering my windows and while I may not have done the best job, I'm happy with it. It looks ok to me. This Duck Brand Double-sided Indoor Window Kit Tape was easy to work with and it's holding up great. I bought 4 at the time but I'll be needing more. I was surprised how quickly 24' went so be sure to get more than enough or you'll be heading back for more.
I put the tape around the window, measured and cut the plastic, then pulled the top layer of the tape off the top part of the window and maybe about 3 inches down on the sides. That helped me to get the plastic pretty straight on the windows I think.
I had some old plastic that I can't see through so I need to get some clear plastic to cover the rest of the windows now. I'm looking forward to keeping some heat inside this winter.

i use this tape every year to put plastic up around my basement windows its the best during the cold winter months in Chicago
