I bought this pickup for recording mandolin and it works much better than I thought it would.  I just clamp it on the headstock and it works great.  I don't know about durability because the cord is flimsy, but you can't go wrong for the price.  I also don't know if would be good for live performance because it's not heavy duty.

Works For Mandolin

These are contact transducer pickups. There is no way you can clip one of� these onto the edge of a soundhole; because, it will be in your way of playing the guitar. However, since this pickup works by picking up frequencies due to the vibrations caused by the strings, you can clip it onto the headstock like you would a tuner. It actually works great and it sounds better than a lot of other types of pickups I've tried. However, no pickup, I don't care how expensive, can reproduce the true acoustic guitar sound.
I found by clipping the pickup on the upper corner of the headstock (next to the "D" tuning key) reproduces an even volume among all six strings. Any other place on the headstock you will not hear the low notes from the E & A strings as strongly. And there is no feedback; I even played my guitar with the headstock only inches away from the amp.
You can break the clip and attach the pickup to the lower bout with double sided adhesive tape.
Had I known about these pickups long ago, I would have saved all that money I spent on all the other acoustic pickups I own.

Great value!

This is an unbeatable value. The pickup (a piezo type) works greats for all acoustic instruments and also if you want a unique tone and sound from electric instruments. I find this pickup works best when clipped to the headstock as it gets in the way of you clip it any where on the body or in the sound hole of an acoustic. Being a piezo you won't get very many harmonica but it works great for its intended purpose. One thing to note is when you clip it on you are best to "pinch it" to make sure the pickup has a full and flat contact with the body or headstock of whatever instrument you're attaching it to. For more low end tone I find it best to place the pickup closer to the low strings' tuners and the same for if you want more high end. Of course centering it on the headstock will give you a nice balanced tone. It's great to experiment with. On the headstock of my acoustic with a sound hole suppressor inserted, I get the best throaty and gritty hollow body tone I've probably heard when I apply a little distortion. On a semi-hollow body, I like to attach this pickup to the top F-hole closest me and combine that tone with the tone from the humbuckers on my mixer and run a bus send out from the mixer to my amp. The combinations and versatility of this pickup are virtually limitless if you're like me and like to try new things for recording and live sound. As a guitar player since childhood and a sound engineer by trade, this pickup makes a great tool for any musicians gear box. I recommend buying a few and also maybe some some extensions as the chord is quite short for live use. I like to use a slightly modified iRig 2 that I made into a belt clip unit and plug the pickup into that and then have a longer instrument cable going to my amp or DI box to the mixer.

I am very satisfied

For the price it?s unbeatable. But it can be pretty low volume and can be noisy if you move around a lot and it?s not clipped tight. Overall though not bad, I bought 2. If you?re looking for live and professional I?d check elsewhere. For a fun pickup to clip on random stuff such as a Cajon or a ukelele. Not bad.

Good for the price but not professional quality (well duh)

Works for my guitar. Not extremely loud and would probably work best if you plugged it into a preamp, but it did work plugged straight into the mixer. Just clip to the headstock like a tuner. Great if you have several instruments you want to switch between. Can't beat it for the price and it works as good as the cheaper soundhole type. Tried using it in my cajon since it was advertised for percussion. Not so good. It might work for a regular drum where you can attach it to the rim, but it was no bueno for the cajon.

Good for guitar, not so well in cajon

It works great, but there are two considerations 1) where to clip it on and 2) where the cord is going to run.  Since it was in the way clipping it in the sound hole, I clipped it on up by the tuning pegs.  This resulted in a cord ... not where I'm used to having a cord ...

positioning is tricky

This didn't work. I clamped it to the sound hole of my Martin, plugged it into the amp, set it on 100 Watt output and maxed out the volume to finally hear it as loud as the unamplified guitar. I'm disappointed.

It failed to work with the Danelectro amplifier/speaker that came with my Martin Backpacker. I reached out and tried to learn about the impedance of the pickup, reasoning it might be a mismatch. Nobody replied to my queries. I don't have time trying to track down somebody who will 'own my problem' and tell me what to do.
