It has good resistance, no spring action. When you do a front kick with power it does lift up in the front a couple of inches but it hasn't tipped yet. (Of course we are not trying to tip it.)

It is very solid to punch. It can stand hard punches and kicks.

there is no spring resistance. Its a solid, plastic tube. We use the same ones at our kickboxing club....they are great.

There is no spring action....the base is pretty heavy after filling it with sand which weighs it down but when giving it some hefty kicks it may move a little(if it didnt you may break your foot). When kicking it straight on it may teeter back a little but then rights itself.

It is made of solid molded plastic with the pad that slides over the top. It has grooves in the pole so the pad is height adjustable. It is all resistance and does not bounce back at all.

There is no spring. If you hit it hard enough it does rock back a bit and forth but, you have to hit it pretty hard to lift it up on edge. Pretty stable for me and I am 250# man with experience striking.

No springs...at the highest level it is noticeably different hitting it then lower 1 or 2 levels for it's support. But, not to the point where I would say it really has any detrimental effect.

Does the Century Wavemaster have spring action, or does it have good resistance?

No assembly required. You will have to take the bag portion off to fill it but that is very simple.

No. 2 pieces, base and 'bag'. Bag just rotates and slides all the way up and off if desired.

Does it require any assembly besides putting the sand or water in it?

It takes 230 lbs. of sand to fill it. I bought 4 - 60 lb bags, and it all fit.

I used 4 bags of sand that were 60 lbs. each and that seems to be the max that they want you to use and it filled it up pretty nice....

I bought 6 (six) 50# bags of play sand and put probably 5 & 1/2 in there. I would say between 4.5-6 50# bags, depending on the amount of resistance you want (ie: equivalent to deciding between a 70-100+lb hanging bag resistance).

Suggest you use water, it is much easier to fill with a garden hose and works very well. With the small opening, it will take you a while to fill it with sand.

I don't recommend sand; use water. However, it takes a BUNCH.

I am very happy with my purchase of this training bag...I filled it with sand and it seems to take some pretty hefty taekwondo kicks from me and my daughter. Of course, after a few straight on kicks it may move a little but that is to be expected and does not bother me at all. It is supposed to give a little when you are kicking it. I am pleased with it and would def recommend this for families that want to practice martial arts at home.

I ordered this from Walmart because of the free site to store shipping. Saved me some cash on purchase price and shipping. It is the same great Century Wavemaster I have used for years in my Martial Arts business. It takes a ton of punishment and lasts for years.

If you don't want, or aren't able, to put a punching bag from the ceiling or pay the $125-$150+ to get a support for it...great choice. I looked at a LOT of options due to being 6'2"-6'3" and not being able to find one that would be tall enough for me to punch and head level. This is the tallest one I could find and well worth 2x the price so far using it.

My only "cons" are that it could be slightly more stable at the highest level and that it's a pain to fill up with sand. I cut an OJ plastic jug to use as a larger funnel and laid ~ 5 bags of play sand out on a tarp in the sun to dry it out to pout easier (since those sealed sand bags have moisture in them).

All in all, very worth it and glad I got it.

Great decision

It's an awesome home workout addition to anyone's "garage workout zone"; our son loves it and helps him practice his martial arts kicking technique. We like it because we don't have to hoist a hundred odd pounds of old-school punching/kicking bag suspended from our garage ceiling!

Wave master is a must for home owners

I like this bag. My rental unit makes it impossible for me to hang a traditional heavy bag so this Wavemaster fit the bill nicely. Tucked into a corner in my garage, it allows for basic boxing and cardio kickboxing. For full-force striking this does tend to move a bit...that said, it moves WAY less than a traditional heavy bag with regard to resetting which, allows for much more consistent repetition during most practice scenarios. I have it filled with water, sand might be more stable but water seems sturdy enough. I would recommend this for sure for striking practice, cardio boxing and kick boxing.

Solid product

Would definitely recommend for kids 10 and under. Not durable enough, in my opinion, for older kids and certainly not adults.

Good product for the money

My daughter and I are Tae Kwon Do black belts and have used the same bag in our dojang. Having it at home gives us the ideal workout to sharpen our skills. Highly recommended if you are serious about working out and enhancing your martial arts skills!

Like the real thing!

Appears that it could meet the expectations of my seven year old son. However, we are going to exchange this product. The cap on the base is defect and does not tighten to enable the cap to be secured. The cap simply pops off. As a result, we are not able to use this training bag and it is going back as soon as possible. Luckily, we did not have it filled with water or sand. If we get it exchanged, we are hoping that the next one is okay. I sincerely recommend that anyone interested in this product first have the cap checked!
