This product does not melt the chocolate.

You are provided with chocolate packets. Just put them in hot water to get the chocolate to melt, cut open the packet at the top and secure the tip and coupler. It is easy to then place it in the pen. The pen itself does not heat up so there couldn&#39;t be any injuries. It is not plugged in but runs on AA batteries.

My seven year old daughter had so much fun using the Chocolate Pen! Adult supervision was necessary during set up but after a little practice she became comfortable with the pen and easily created designs without my assistance. The pen is perfect for decorating party treats or just a fun way to dress up a favorite cupcake. Package includes everything you need to start creating. The Chocolate Pen makes a great gift and something adults can enjoy as well. I received this product in exchange for an honest review; all opinions are my own.

Fun for the entire family!

My kids are 4 and 7 and both loved this item! The chocolate tastes great and thepen makes it easy to create your own chocolates.

Easy to assemble and works like a charm

So, I signed up to get this product as a gift in exchange for my honest review, not knowing that the very next day my kids were playing with one our neighbor got. They (3-6YO) came home complaining that it didn't work and were all pretty bummed out.

When ours was delivered they were excited again. The instructions were easier than the assembly. Time consuming at first then by the 3rd or 4th color change you get the hang of it.

Overall, the molds worked best. Freehand drawing was a disaster and looked nothing like what it was intended to be ie. butterfly or heart or even letters. The chocolate keeps piping out for a few seconds after you let the button go. I think this product would be best if used to decorate cookies cakes/cupcakes.

My biggest gripe is that the chocolate bags are one-time use only. A container of colors that you could refrigerate and put as much or as little into the bags as you would like would've worked best. Also, this is something parents should expect to be a part of.

I gave it 3 stars because my kids had fun and enjoyed eating the chocolate after just 5 minutes in the freezer!

Fun for kids, Parents on the hook

Bought this in the store...Hemet, Ca. Thought my 5 year old removed the chocolate that was included and misplaced it. We checked everywhere in the home and checked the trash can outside...no chocolate packs anywhere....we went to the same walmart we bought it at and checked the last 7 boxes that the store had, no chocolate in any of the boxes!!! Clearly an error with the packaging...the store associate removed them from the shelf

No chocolate in box

The concept is great, yet assembling the pen bag is not. The clamps do not close around the pen tip. Therefore, one can not use the pen. It took me 20 mins to close one clamp. It was so messy and frustrating for me. Kids were waiting and waiting. The 2nd color we tried the clamp again and couldn't get it on so I just squeezed it manually for my kids. This took away the fun for them. Really what is the point then? Clamps seem too small to connect once they are around the pen tip and bag. The bag bunches up with some chocolate in it making the clamp difficult to close. Like I said concept is wonderful and could be funt, yet if the Clamps can not close, one can not use the pen, which is the whole point of this activity.

Frustrating! Assembling...

Purchased this for my daughter as it was one of only a few things on her Christmas list. I regret it. The clamps do not fit around the tips. We placed them in the pen anyway. Creating designs was easy but chocolate flows out of the pen after the button is released. To create molds with two colors, it is best to have two pens. Also, the chocolate hardens quickly. That is good for your design but not good when you are switching colors. Even if placed back in hot water, the chocolate in the tip hardens. The plunger quit working after changing out colors. We ended up just using our hands to press out chocolate. After 15 min, my daughter lost interest. I will invest in Joann's decorating kits by Wilton or similar brand.

Cheap and messy

This is the biggest waste of money . The molds are cute but the pen spits out the chocolate and it's super thick so you can't get a nice near line on the small molds . Forget trying to write names , it stops , the line is huge and its not continuous ! My daughter gave up after five minutes , and she usually is the one who doesn't want to give up. By the time u heat the chocolate and put it in the pen the chocolate is cooling and hard . One color at a time , I'm better off melting a couple small bowls and giving her a chocolate paint brush and painting the designs .

Junk !!!!

Clamps to secure the tip of the pen did not fit. The chocolate also set way to fast. After spending about 30 minutes trying to get the clamp closed I gave up. My daughter got this as a Christmas present and was extremely disappointed. Would not recommend this product.

Clamps did not fit

The clamps would not fit to hold the pen tip in place. My 5 year old was extremely disappointed. I messed with it for a while, I even tried to put the clamp over the bag first and then push it onto the tip and could not get it to fit. This was a complete waste of money, and it disappointed my daughter that one of her Christmas gifts dos not work.

Useless

Chocolate Pen was advertised as being so simple to use. It didn't work as advertised and was so frustrating that it made my daughter cry on Christmas Day. I am an adult that decorates cookies and cakes very often. I found this product terribly frustrating also. So sad. I feel bad for all the other children that received this as a gift.
