My kids are 4 and 7 and both loved this item! The chocolate tastes great and thepen makes it easy to create your own chocolates.

Easy to assemble and works like a charm

The pen is nice because it makes it easy for kids to make small chocolate molds without squeezing the bag or having a lot of chocolate flow out of the bottle. We made tons of cute little characters (it comes with 50 molds), had fun writing words and drawing shapes to harden and stick on the cupcakes, and even decorated the cupcakes directly with the chocolate pen.

My favorite part is that there is very minimal clean up. Each kit comes with several types of chocolate inserts. You simply warm them in a cup of hot water (no double boiler, yay!) until they are soft, trim the top open, attach a nozzle, fasten, and load into the pen! I found their video helpful to make sure we did it right the first time. It was easy and super quick to swap out colors.

Fun afternoon with the kids!

After seeing the chocolate pen on TV commercials for a while my daughter had been begging for one. She finally got one for her 5th birthday. I have to say it's a little time-consuming to put the chocolate in the pen but it works well and the chocolate tastes yummy. The pen is a little big for Five-year-old hands but it does the job and there are lots designs to make.

Fun activity for my 5 year old

I spent way too much time trying to fit the clamps which did not fit!!! Because of this, my 9 yr old daughter had a difficult time using the pen consistently. We were able to finish a "small" batch; afterwards, I threw everything out except the unused bags of chocolate. JUNK, don't waste your money!

Piece of junk!

Purchased this for my daughter as it was one of only a few things on her Christmas list. I regret it. The clamps do not fit around the tips. We placed them in the pen anyway. Creating designs was easy but chocolate flows out of the pen after the button is released. To create molds with two colors, it is best to have two pens. Also, the chocolate hardens quickly. That is good for your design but not good when you are switching colors. Even if placed back in hot water, the chocolate in the tip hardens. The plunger quit working after changing out colors. We ended up just using our hands to press out chocolate. After 15 min, my daughter lost interest. I will invest in Joann's decorating kits by Wilton or similar brand.

Cheap and messy

Clamps to secure the tip of the pen did not fit. The chocolate also set way to fast. After spending about 30 minutes trying to get the clamp closed I gave up. My daughter got this as a Christmas present and was extremely disappointed. Would not recommend this product.

Clamps did not fit

No matter how hot you heat the chocolate, it cools and hardens quite quickly. I found my self heating up the water more than I tried writing something. The pen acts very constipated pushing out the chocolate. All I ended up getting was little pellets that took forever. (see picture) If there's a different chocolate that I could use with better consistency, maybe it will work as advertised. Saw on Youtube the the stuff did ooze out nicely and gave it another try. I became more frustrated the second time. Doesn't work the chocolate that came with it and same everyone else is complaining about as well. So frustrated..... My daughter says 2 thumbs down.

Does not work with the chocolate given

The pen tips do not fit properly into the chocolate pouches because the clamps are not big enough to clamp all the way around the chocolate pouch....too much plastic. I trimmed some plastic of with scissors thinking my problem was solved...but then the pen itself DOES NOT work! The plunger inside pen is suppose to press the chocolate out...it DOES NOT! You are better off using a sandwich bag with icing in it...squeezing out of a tiny hole in corner of bag. Total waste of money! Do not buy this product!

Waste of money!

Chocolate Pen was advertised as being so simple to use. It didn't work as advertised and was so frustrating that it made my daughter cry on Christmas Day. I am an adult that decorates cookies and cakes very often. I found this product terribly frustrating also. So sad. I feel bad for all the other children that received this as a gift.

My daughter received this for Christmas!. We softened the chocolate, and proceeded to put it in the pen. She pressed the pen once and pushed out about an inch of chocolate. Couldn't get it to work again after that. I will be returning it to the store.
