i think it's painted wood. smooth, nice surface finish.

I don't see why not. A diploma or certificate should work just fine. Poster board should fit too. An entire magazine probably wouldn't. I guess it depends on what you mean by thick.

One 8x10 picture fits perfectly in one frame of this set of two frames of the same size. Since it is "floating picture frame," the 8x10 photo is placed in the middle of the two glass panes giving the illusion of "floating picture." It is easy to "install" the photo: use double-sided tape to adhere your photo to the sample image enclosed.

Yes these are the same size. I think it says both sizes because the frame is 11x14. But if you want the floating look, it would be best to put an 8x10 (approximately) inside. Hope that helps.

These frames worked perfectly for my sonâs room.  They arrived well packaged and included some adhesive squares to attach the prints to the glass.  They can be hung vertically or horizontally.  I framed four 8x10 dinosaur fossil prints and they turned out really nice.  They look very clean and modern.  He loves them and canât wait to see them in his new room!

Nice Quality

I am looking forward to using these frames and displaying it at our firm. When first ordering it, I wasn't sure of the quality but once I received it, I ordered four more sets. It looks really expensive. For the price, you can't beat. Extremely pleased.

Floating Frames

Used it for my Senior Exhibition and it was a hit. Looked really clean and simple. Just like my photos. A bit of a pain to set up and lots of cleaning. The hinges in the back weren't the best and didn't get enough pressure on the glasses. Had to tape down my photo so it wouldn't slide down over time. Would buy more frames like this.

Great frames.

I love these frames..... They are my chosen preference when I want a colored matte around my pictures.  I have a beach theme painted on one wall at my office.... then I painted hombre style with sunset colors on the other 3 walls.  These frames hold great beach scenes from an old calendar I  kept.  Love the look.  Thank you Walmart for the great price.

Floating frames

I have had frames like this for years. Recently I needed another one, so I purchased these two. I wish that they had come with only one, but I'm sure I'll figure something out to do with the other one. The only down side to these is that the black paint scratches off easily. I was able to color the little scratches in with black marker and now you can't even tell. For the price, I feel like it's a good buy. I would buy these again. I like how the picture is floating inside and doesn't have to be an exact size (like it would have to be if it had a mat). I just put my picture inside and used double sided tape to keep it in the place I wanted. Looks great on my wall!

Frames are great

These really set something off nicely, real glass not not plastic looking. But because both sides are glass, it's a bit of a pain to put something in and keep it from settling down over time.

Great Quality, a bit of a pain.

These worked our perfectly for a project I had. We framed the pages from our wedding program/newspaper. Since the newspaper pages were printed on both sides we wanted a frame where you could flip it over and see the other side. As the frame itself is plain we beefed it up with some wood and metal embellishments. And since the cost was low we were able to create a fantastic final result (4 frames in all) for much less than other frames.

Only criticism is that the part of the frame that holds the glass in is plastic and slightly too small for the opening such that the sides bowed in a bit blocking some of the see through part.

Great for the price

The box that the frames comes in was never designed for shipping and was not packed properly in a box that is.  The glass is shattered in what sounds like hundreds of little pieces.  I cannot safely open the box and will take it to a store to return it.
