There is an easy release button near the canister that allows for easy removal and dumping on the Black & Decker Dustbuster 14.4V 2-In-1 Stick Vacuum with Removable Hand Vacuum.

Once you take the container out there are 2 holes at the top. put your fingers in the holes and pull out from that side. It will come out pretty easy after that.

How do you empty the area where the dirt is kept?

You have to wiggle it, just a little bit, and it comes out. Mine is hard to remove too, but moving it back and forth a little pops it out.

how do I detach the crevice or brush tool

I just got this second hand. Is there supposed to be a charge cord.

I was surprised and pleased at the eficiency, effectiveness and effortless use of this item. This is the 4th stick pick-up vacuum type  one I have had and it is by far the  best.

B&D dustbuster stick

Love this! We needed something I could pull out quickly and vacuum up dog hair and bits of dirt here and there when we got new wood floors. It does pickup all I need and plus. I have a 1,800 sf house and it does it all without needing recharging, you need to keep it plugged in all the time and it will work. As far as empty ease it has two compartments one that has the filter for small dirt and dust and then you just pull out the second black piece to empty larger dirt like dog hair etc. There is no small hole or unscrewing to empty. This is the best purchase I ever did and use it now more than my big vacuum and there is no need to purchase the more expensive ones.

Best purchase ever!

Works great for small jobs which is why we bought it. This allows us to clean up small areas without dragging out the Electrolux. We had to use it as a regular vacuum cleaner for a few days while our regular vacuum cleaner was under repair & it did OK but that's not why we bought it.

Dustbuster 2-in-1 Stick

The on-off switch is not on the handle so you have to bend down to shut it off. Also attaching the cord and emptying the dustbuster is a little tricky. However It is more powerful than the Electrolux I had before and therefore picks up crumbs, etc. better.

Fairly powerful but not engineered well

I have 2 boys, 6 and 3, and use this vacuum for the kitchen after meals. It will not replace the broom, but is great for quick cleans.

I bought this to replace a sweeper that broke. I was looking for a cheap sweeper, but this was the next best option. I do like the suction and the hand held option. I already used it to get under the oven and fridge. My kids like it and will help vacuum with it.

What I do not like, the filter, I cannot find a replacement, but I have not checked the store either. Emptying is OK. I first thought there was a small hole too, like another reviewer wrote, but I read the directions, and found you take out the top part and it dumps easily.

My thoughts overall. It is a good price for a quick clean vac. It can handle short hair rugs and wood. Easy to empty and versatile. I would recommend.

Works for small messes

Does not hv good suction on vinyl flooring

14.4v floor vac

This vacuum has works great picking up dirt and dog hair but when emptying you are only provided a small hole in which you can empty, hair lint paper and other debris is not able to make it thru this hole. I must unscrew the top of the container to empty completely. For that reason only I have given it a 2. Not sure if I will keep this.

Hard to empty

I got this at my local store on clearance because I did not have a ton of cash to spend, but needed something light weight to do my stairs, clean up the car, and run over the hardwood floors of my home. This works alright, not amazing, but not bad either. The positives are the light weight and ability to suck up dust and small pieces from hard floors. The handheld portion is easy to detach and works well for sucking up window sills and under couch cushions. The negatives are a little more numerous: the battery life is really low, and you cannot run it with the unit charging, so it's all or nothing. Cleaning the unit should not be something one has to read directions on how to do, but this one is complicated enough and the directions are not very clear. I do not regret buying this at a sale price, but I would not recommend this to someone else unless they too could overlook the flaws.

Works ok

I bought this to replace my 18 V black and decker hand vacuum that worked great for years. This one however worked great only after the initial charge . But after that it wouldn't hold a charge long enough to do to small rooms! I would leave it plugged in until needed again but it would run down within a few minutes. Also found it difficult to get a good grip on the filter and cup to pull it out to empty it. Also it claims it will stand up on it's own. Nope! I would stand it up only for it to slam to the floor when I walk off. And yes I had it "popped" securely at the bottom. I do not like giving a bad review but I use other reviews when I am purchasing any product. I would not recommend this if you need to use it often throughout the day.

Doesn't hold a charge long enough!

Vacuum would not charge properly.  It took a charge the very first time but after that we could not get it to charge at all.  We returned it to the store for a refund.
