Wattage is 1600.  I have only used iron once since purchasing and there were no leakage issues.  However, I find irons start to leak after much more use.  I just replaced one for leakage problems and it was a Rowenta  model bought at a much higher purchase price than the Black and Decker Allure.

Only had this iron for about a month. No issues observed.

No leaks here after almost 2 years of daily usage, however the vertical steam button stopped working for me. Other than that, no issues.

Thank you for your question, Jess. To dry iron, it is not necessary to empty the water tank. Simply move the variable steam selector all the way to the left, to the Dry Iron setting.

Does it have option to turn steam off? I have items that I cannot use steam on at all.

I HAVE ONL USED THIS IRON ONCE SINCE PURCHASING.  NOT HEAVY, BUT STABLE AND STEAM WORKS WELL....NO LEAKING.  I FOUND THE WATER WELL EASY TO FILL, HOWEVER HAD SOME DIFFICULTY SEEING MAXIMUM FILL LINE.  I RATED THIS AS EXCELLENT AS I HAVE NOT ENCOUNTERED ANY PROBLEM, BUT KEEP IN MIND THAT IT IS NEW AND I  CANNOT VOUCH FOR ITS CONTINUED RELIABILITY.  DOES NOT HAVE A SELF-STORING CORD WHICH WOULD BE NICE.

STABLE IRON

We iron every week. This iron has just the right weight. Water reservoir is larger than other brands we've used. It glides well over our clothes. The only thing that needs improvement is the reservoir color is too dark. Difficult to see how much water is remaining. The dial for selection of heat settings is also too dark. Difficult to read. If it continues to perform well that is the most important test. We haven't used it but about a month time will reveal its worth.

This is a very good, slick iron with lots of options! It heats up quick, has a large ironing surface, and great steam and spray features! The large ironing surface makes this iron seem professional! It has a door to open to add water and you have great steam action and a steam burst! The steam burst works so well it startled me at first! The spray works great and helps for those tough creases! I also appreciate the swivel cord, helps when maneuvering the iron. This iron has several heat settings with a dial under the handle. This is the only feature that I didn't like. The setting numbers are on the plastic round dial, but they are very hard to read as there is no contrasting color, or any color at all to see them. The fact that they are under the handle also makes it hard to see and awkward to select. Other than that, this iron is wonderful and a pleasure to use. I was given this iron as part of the Spectrum Brands program to use and review, this is my honest review, 100% my own thoughts. Great, sturdy iron. Fancy Professional Iron!

I love black and decker products. I've been on the market for a great iron and it had to be a black and decker. THIS iron is amazing! I like how it looks, that's the first thing that caught my eye, then the price, then the light weight of it makes it very easy to handle. But the options on the iron, steaming or dry iron is amazing. I love it. Will probably buy another to have just in case something happens to this one. GREAT BUY!

Finally, a real iron.

This iron has a good weight and balance, and the steam features work great. It is easy to add water. The heat setting dial is hard to get to under the handle and it is very hard to read. The instructions say that it shuts off after so long, etc, but then the light keeps blinking - maybe to make you want to unplug it. I added a power strip so I can turn the power on and off easier. Otherwise it's a great iron for the price.

Almost perfect Iron

Iron is easy to maneuver and presses clothing well.  The lighting has to be bright to view the water level when filling the compartment and it is difficult to see to position  the desired heat level on the iron.  You almost need a flashlight to do these functions. I prefer those two aspects on the B

I really like this iron, the steam controls on top are easy to use. There are buttons on the top for a pulse of steam or to spray water. The only thing I did not like is for the controls on the knob there is nothing saying what numbers are for which fabrics, you have to look in the booklet to know what setting is for the type of fabric you are ironing.
