These are really tasty, but they are very high in fat (16g) and calories (240 per 1/2c). That might be ok in an emergency situation when you need the energy, but as an every day snack, it could be excessive. I usually read the labels before buying, but I didn't this time (my fault). They ARE tasty though, and if they weren't so high in fat and calories, I would absolutely recommend them! Hoping I can find a healthier option as I like bananas.

I love eating these banana slices instead of crackers or chips. Your kids will love them. Caution, you need strong teeth.

My only negative is that it is a little too sweet, just a little. I love the crunch, the flavor and you can't beat the price/value. I noticed the ingredients lists, "sugar/honey", I wish they would drop the sugar part of that and go with just honey. Then lets see if it is too sweet. I have not only recommended these to friends and family, but I am buying several more for long term storage. If Walmart had an auto/subscription option for this (like Amazon does for many food items) to get 1(or 2 or 3) can a month, I would definitely sign up. This is my second Augason Farms product I have tried from Walmart (or Sams Club) and I plan to get a lot more as money permits, great value and flavor.

Ingredients: Bananas, coconut/ vegetable oil, sugar/ honey, natural flavoring. Shelf life:sealed to 10 Years, Opened to 1 year. I was excited to find this for long term storage and at such a low price. I was a little dissapointed to see that they used oil in them though because that gives it a shorter life span and if not stored at a a lower temperature the will get rancid. Still though, I think it is a good but if you have a basement or root cellar that can reliably keep them cool and dry.

    • A. I just bought mine last month. It is best used by August 19, 2024. This is stated on the bottom of the can. On the Augason Farms website it states the shelf life to be 10 years. Hope this helps.

    • A. Unopened - 10 years. Opened - 1 year. If you open them and do not use the entire can, you can vacuum seal what you do not use and they should regain the 10 year shelf life.

    • A. The sugar & carbs content should remain the same. All that is being removed from the food is the water. Because the bananas shrink the sugar is concentrated & needs no additional sweetening. The addition of anything like honey or sugar creates a sweeter candy-like fruit. BTW, the harder & drier the banana chips are the longer they are preserved. The softer chewer kind are better tasting but won't last as long as the brittle kind bc they still have some moisture left in therm. Hope this helps others.

    • A. refrigeration allows moisture-- and moisture makes them sticky---just keep the top on and put in a dry pantry area. they keep very well after opening-- but they are HARD-- so beware your teeth when biting and chewing them. if put into cooked [ing] oatmeal or muffins they will soften from the surrounding moisture and make them easier to eat. broken pieces are great for baking to add a hint of banana flavor. i'm sure more are sold for snacking NOW than for long term storage so you may find a better price per pound in the produce or snack section.

    • A. Package label says - No refrigeration required but best kept in a dry place with temps between 55 to 70 degrees. We live in a dry climate so that helps. The banana slices seem to hold up real well in trail mix as they are honey coated. Other dehydrated fruit like apples and pineapple can pick up humidity from raisins and nuts in trail mix or cereal mixes.

A can doesn't last me long enough to go bad, lol. Once opened, it says it will last a year. I believe it would last until you finished it. Delicious.
