Mine is never off! Is your outdoor sensor in the shade/a protected area?

I see that your question was quite awhile ago, but just in case anyone else needs help:

What we did when our readings got "stuck" (ours was humidity) was to bring the remote back the house, and remove the batteries. I left the cover open, and let the unit air dry for a little while. I even held it a little ways in front of a space heater that was blowing warm air, but not too close, and I kept moving it around. After it had dried for a bit, I replaced the batteries, and then switched the ABC channel option over to another channel, and then back to the desired setting. I did the same thing on the main unit, so that they were "re-synced". After that, the unit was reading correctly again.

I think sometimes in extreme conditions of heat, cold, direct sunlight or dampness, it can get a little messed up. It's best to keep it covered and out of any sunlight. We used a roof overhang that stays shaded.

A tech support rep at the company (phone number appears in the owners manual) told me that the temperature reading should be accurate within 4 degrees. If not I would recommend calling them or perhaps the unit is defective (as mine was).

The outside temp is 11 degrees off whats up?

Take off the battery box door. There is a SET button inside. Press & hold this SET button. It will now enter the SET mode where each time that you press SET it will move to the next preference. When you get to the preference that you wish to change, use the the UP or DOWN button to change that preference. When you are done changing the preferences that you want changed, just don't press any more buttons & after 30 seconds it will exit the SET mode.

How do you change between celsius and fahrenhight display

Hi Cold,

Inside the battery compartment of the display unit you'll find a small reset button. Press and release this button and the flashing backlight should stop.

Mine goes off and stays off until I press the light button.

My blue back light comes on for a split second every ten minutes or so. Is this normal

I've had a couple of other units like this one, but this one is by far the best.  Easy to set up--both the indoor and outdoor units--and easy to read.

I really like this device.  The set-up was simple and quick to do.  the large figures are easy to read, and the touch spot to back light is very handy in poor lighting.  So far, it is very accurate.

This device is simple to set up and use. It sets the correct date and time by itself. The numerals are large and easy to read and comprehend. The back light is blue and is really bright. Appears to be very accurate with the Weather Channel outside temps and humidity. Takes 5 batteries - 2 in the sensor and 3 in the receiver. Seems to be well constructed.

Good, Low Cost, Instrument

I buy about 50 of these each year, mostly from Walmart.com to install in homes that my company has worked on either completing a sealed crawlspace or attic weatherization. 
About 1 out of 50 is faulty, and I try to test them by setting them up with the remote sensor zip tied to the base unit and checking to make sure that the "indoor vs outdoor" temp/humidity is within a few degrees of each other. A good reading is within 1-2 points or exactly the same, and other brands are good when they are within 5-6 points. When faulty, the humidity reads 98% due to an error I assume in the sensor. 
The main reason I love the design is the huge, flat bezel. I write on it to make it easier for my clients to see "where" the remote sensor is:

Great product for several reasons.

Didn't even realize it had the high and low feature but I find it very handy-- I want to know how cold my horses got in the wee hours so I know how much hay to give them. Also, having a second opinion of the indoor temperature away from the wall thermostat helps me regulate the space heater. The time seems to be a few minutes behind my cell phone. Good value and features, just what I needed.

Love the daily HI and LO feature

I bought this a month ago and am impressed with all the features that are displayed on the Thermometer.  Indoor/Outdoor temperatures and humidity, time/date/moon phase and many more features.  As soon as I inserted the batteries, all readings were immediately displayed.

Like the product very much. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the display can be a little hard to read in low light. Not really an issue most of the time. Appreciate all of the information that the display provides. Very easy to set up. Everything was delivered as expected.

I bought this item to replace a similar monitor I've been using for several years that only monitored indoor humidity. This would have been a good value if it had worked as advertised.

After loading batteries I placed the unit and remote sensor right next to each other for several hours, and noticed the temp reading was off by 2 degrees. I called the company and was told that being off by 4 degrees would have been acceptable! May the brand should be named AproxRite?

Deciding I could live with a 2 degree difference, I next decided to test the outdoor humidity reading. But the inaccuracy here was unacceptable: Although several online weather stations near my house (www.wunderground.com) reported humidity readings of about 85% (very humid), this device reported the humidity as 65% (a little humid). As a result, I decided to return the item to Walmart.

Good value - but worked poorly!

Great concept, but after putting in the batteries and locating the sensor outside and well away from the house, the outdoor temperature registered virtually the same as the indoor temp at all times. I waited several days to see if it would calibrate or start working properly, but it did not. I returned it.
