Just one paddle. Seems to work okay though. Not too noisy, and it doesn't leave a large "hole" in the loaf either.

How many knead paddles does this machine have?

This machine can automatically add yeast. For nuts and fruits it can be programmed to beep at proper time and you will add them manually.

Yes you can - it is a separate setting and you put them in when the machine beeps

Yes. Panasonic provide a recipe book with specific directions on how and when to add the nuts and fruits. I haven't done this yet.

Yes, you can. The instruction booklet tells you to chop the nuts first, and there is a raisin bread setting for if you want to add fruit.

They have a raisin cycle. Use this cycle and when it beeps add the nuts and fruit. I just made a flax and sunflower seed bread. Flax I added with the flour, but put the seeds in at the beep. Was excellent bread.

Can you puts nuts and fruit in this bread maker?

Any yeast dough. You can bake it in the bread maker or take the dough out and bake in the oven (such as rolls, croissants, etc.). You can also bake things made out of dough not made in the bread maker (although I have not personally tried that yet).

It makes a variety of breads including sourdough. It even has a setting for baking cakes, but I have not tried those.

I have to laugh because it'll make more types of bread than I ever will. The cookbook is online, just google Panasonic SD-YD250.

I had the previous version of this and it lasted 15 years. The new one has several nice improvements: It makes 3 sizes of loaves. Better rubber feet on the bottom so it doesn't move around. It's larger inside so the bread won't rise so high and hit the inside top of the lid. (This used to happen in my old machine and gunk up the yeast dispenser.) Many types of modes for baking and dough. Overall I am extremely pleased with this breadmaker. I highly recommend it. You won't be disappointed.

Excellent Bread Machine

We are replacing our old sd-yd200  that we have had for close to 20 years and it has worked perfect. It's just starting to get tired and we saw that Panasonic was making  The new model that was almost identical so we decided to upgrade. Thanks for a great product.

Stay something that you know Works

Originally I was looking into a much cheaper version of a bread maker since I wasn't really sure how much I'd use it. My mom insisted on this Panasonic because of the automatic yeast dispenser, and that she had previously owned one she loved. 
I cannot thank her enough for her suggestion. I love this bread maker! It is super simple to use, and comes with a few great recipes to start with. I really like the rapid bake option as well. Fresh bread in under 2 hours is fantastic. The bread has always turned out great, and I've used it every other day since I received my order. 

The only complaints I have are that it is a bit bulky, and the outer body gets super hot while baking. That's understandable, but I have two young kids, so it makes me a little nervous. Still, I would recommend this bread maker to anyone. I'm completely satisfied with this purchase!

Very happy with this purchase

This is my fourth bread machine. I haven't bought store-bought bread in many years. I only, always make homemade bread. So, I need a machine that can give me consistent results. The Oster bread machine I owned before this one gave me very inconsistent results. So much so that I ended up only using the dough cycle and baking my bread in the oven. What a pain when we live in the 21st century with all of the conveniences available to us!! 

A friend of mine, who also makes all her bread at home and has had this machine for over a year or so, recommended this machine to me. I had always appreciated the quality of her bread when I visited so I decided to give this machine a chance. Especially, when I saw it on Wal-Mart's site on sale for $99!!!!! The price has since went up. I cannot express how happy I am with this purchase. Even when I mess up, maybe put in more of something than I should, I never get terrible, inedible results as I did with my last four machines. Every time this machine pumps out pretty consistent results. I've owned this machine now for 4 months and have perfected my recipe. This machine will produce close to perfect, almost like store-bought bread every single time. It is always soft and the texture is wonderfully good (I hope the pictures show this). I think the automatic yeast dispenser has a lot to do with this. I also love the thin mixing blade on this machine. My last machine would leave a huge, gaping hole in the middle of my bread leaving many slices almost unusable. This machines blade is thin enough to where you can use every single slice of bread without the hole effecting it's usability, if that makes sense. If you look closely you can see this in the first pic.

I can't say it enough how happy I am with this purchase!

Best Machine Yet!

After an initial experiment preparing whole wheat bread, which did not turn out well due to my mistake I then prepared the white bread recipe. This turned out excellent. Having this unit for a short time I must say that I am very satisfied. If you follow the directions you should have no problems at all. When sugar is called for in the recipe I used molasses in its place. My suggestion is to use Better Bread Flour.

Very satisfied with the purchase

It is a great, all-around product. My only issue is that I don't know how to get rid of the "rest" period so sometimes bread takes longer to start... up to 30 minutes sometimes.

We were solely impressed by our friend's Zojirushi bread machine when they gave us a loaf of freshly made bread. Instantly we were sold on the idea of making our own breads in the comfort of our own home, and I loved that home made bread is without preservatives or artificial ingredients (well you know exactly what goes into your food!). I hunted on the Internet for a reliable yet affordable bread machine and was leaning towards Zojirushi (even though it was more expensive), but the Panasonic model caught my eye with its variety of features for such a great price. Not to mention it could make up to XL sized loaves, and had an automatic yeast dispenser. I went with the Panasonic and have had no regrets. It is very user friendly and the timer is very simple to use - Waking up to the smell of fresh baked bread is truly homely. Walmart.com processed my order efficiently and I received my bread machine in a couple of days.

Great bread machine for a first timer!

On the plus side, this machine makes good bread.  I've made 4 loaves so far of white and whole wheat and they all turned out well.  It's easy to use for a beginner, like myself.  The delay cycle is a nice plus, and I love the automatic yeast dispenser.  

I could not rate this a five star because the display menu where you select settings is dark and hard to read.  The machine is tall and I'm short, so I stand on a kitchen stool to program it.  Also, once you select "start" there is no cancel or reset button.
