    EXCELLENT for $15, READ description!

I read most of the 1 & 2 star reviews to see what the major complaints were with this product. Many said "wasn't worth it", "smaller than I thought", "doesn't hold much", and "arrived broken" (I believe that folks who had comments of it arriving broken may have the shipping company/method to blame and not the product itself). For a mere $15 investment, AND the ability to return it without difficulty, I decided to forge ahead with it. The above complaints mentioned are addressed, in BIG print, on the box; it gives EXACT dimensions & EXACT weight limits (including that the weight needs to be evenly distributed). I found this shelving unit to be just as described/expected. It's simple to assemble, sturdy if you work within its weight/size limitations, and the biggest plus for me: Made in the USA...YAY! I use it in my pantry closet to maximize space. Overall, my impression is that I cannot BELIEVE what people expect for $15!

I am really happy with the 4-tier heavy-duty plastic shelf I bought from Walmart. It was very light to carry, extremely easy to assemble. It took me less than 3 minutes. And the size is perfect for my pantry. In fact, I plan to buy a couple more of these shelves for storage - ike my daughter's art supplies, my husband's computer-related stuff, etc.

I have four of these 22" shelves, and also the larger Plano 33" wide shelving. Many uses for them, but my favorite usage is as a computer workstation. The wider unit sags in the middle (not a lot, but noticeable) when more than about 80 lbs is on it. The shorter unit doesn't have that problem, because it's not as wide. The white 'ages' well after a year, if unwashed. It ends up having an antique look, light brown 'veins'. These 'veins' wash off with 409 or other cleaner easily enough. Best of all, you can modularize the shelving, and stick even a broom in the holes. Assembly is tougher than advertised, though. I needed to use the flat side of a hammer to get the legs into the shelves -- important, especially if you plan to put something heavy on the shelves. The shorter unit is a better buy than the wider one, if you need multiple units. Worth the money, either way.

These shelves would be used to store Medication while on Medical Mission in Guatemala and need to be taken apart and stored until the next trip.
    by Nancy 3/25/2014
    • Hi Nancy, yes they can be easily taken apart and stored away, for next use.

    • Yes, the poles between the shelves can be put back together the way it was shipped. You can tie with twine, tape together or use shrink wrap to keep the unit together.

    • The shelves snug onto the poles, so the connection isn't permanent. They can be disassembled, but I would recommend taking care to push the shelves straight off, as excessive angling or twisting could break the mating area of the shelf.

    • Yes, these shelves can be easily disassembled and reassembled in no time flat. I had both of my sets put together in about 5 minutes. I believe these shelves would be perfect for your needs. The poles can be stored within two of the shelves put together for even easier carrying and storage.

    • You could stack them as high as you want, but I am not sure how safe it would be unless they were anchored in some way to a wall, they are sturdy, but they are light and plastic.
      by KeniB11/1/2014
Was this answer helpful? (1) (0)
    • yes you could but if it goes to high it might fall over, the center of gravity would change. you would need to secure it to the wall, even one unit might need that if you put something heavy on an upper shelf.
      by elnisi11/1/2014
Was this answer helpful? (1) (0)
    • Yes. You'll end up with an unused shelf though.

    • You can set one on top of the other... It will not be secure though as designed... you will need to make brackets or something and that would be 8 feet high by the end.

    • It depends on where you are going to place these shelves. If you are going to place them on a even surface it will be fine, but if you intend to drag them to other places, it won't be a good idea to stack them so high. I bought this shelf to help organize my garage and it fitted perfectly.

    • yes --- not only can you stack them, but I actually put two different sizes together and made a wall system with varied amounts of space for different sized items.

I purchased these shelves to use for craft supplies and what a great find. They went together fast and are very sturdy. However, the poles at the top are left open not leaving a finished looked. Is this the way they are supposed to be????? Thanks

    • yes no cap covers, I use mine for crafts as well and have found the top holes are good for items you want to hang from the corners. an 'S' hook will hold things, I keep a spare pr of scissors in one, the handles keep them from falling down inside. also a pr in the pantry so I can open bags, have even used it to hang a clothes hanger from. if you wanted to cover them you might look in the plumbing dept where they have the PVC pipe. maybe take a shelf with you for fit.

    • Actually, they don't come with them, once it was made with option to add more layers; I bought the cap covers at homedepot and they fitted perfectly. As you can see in the picture with the cap covers on.

    • No! What i did to finish out the top and bottom of the four post or legs was to go the local hardware store.I purchased eight end caps that are used for pvc piping end caps. These caps may have to be just a little over sized, because the pvc caps and the post that came with the shelving are not measured the same in diameter. The post are thin walled and the pvc caps are thicker walled. To take care of difference i filled in with caulking.Looks great-hope this helps.

    • Yes, so that they save money in manufacturing by making each shelf the same. And, you can combine on split units to make them 2, 3, 4, 5 shelves high, etc.
