You have to use regular Wii remotes in order to play regular Wii games on the Wii U. The regular Wii games do not work on the Wii U Game Pad.

As far as I know you can play all Wii games. The Wii remote, balance board, nunchuck, etc. all interface with the Wii U but I'm not sure about 3rd party controllers like Guitar Hero.

I was pleasantly surprised when I viewed the Walmart's website for the Wii U Deluxe Console set that included 2 games! Other stores' selling the "Deluxe set" only offered 1 game. I was sold, so I immediately purchased the Wii U for my 6 year old Granddaughter.

I have a PS3 hooked up to an old Mitsubishi DLP TV and the Wii U is the perfect companion for it.
I actually bought this for my kid's birthday but since the gamepad double's as a TV remote we've probably used it more than he has.
There are some awesome games coming out too, in addition to games already available on the playstation/xbox.
Looking forward to the nintendo exclusives like Super Mario 3D world and WindWaker HD.

Good Price. Great System

I love this console, and so do my children. We have lots of fun. I can't think of a better offline, couch multiplayer video game company. Nintendo is the best family-oriented console. If you're a hardcore gamer, you'll probably steer away from Nintendo, but if you have family and friends and love playing together, this is it. Mario games provide for the best and "fun" gaming experiences. It's really exciting to play with my kids and sometimes my girlfriend plays with us too. The wii u gamepad is the smoothest and nicest, most comfortable controller I have ever held in my hand.

PS. This item better not have a black Friday lower deal because i'll just explode in a fit

Wonderful console

The Wii U takes family fun to a whole new level. We got a great price on the bundle that included the Mario Bros and Luigi U. So much fun using it in boost mode, and the best part is, it can be played not using the TV screen. So when one of my kids wants to play, but I have a show I want to watch (Or just not use the electricity of having the TV on a lot), they can play in 1 player mode on the game pad. Great purchase, and LOVE that we can use all the regular Wii games on this console.

Excellent Purchase

Nintendo didn't market this product very well. The problem is that a lot of people are confused about what the system is. My 14 year-old daughter, who should be Nintendo's primary target-market, thought it was the same thing as a Wii, or just an add-on. The system is more fun to play than my Xbox 360 or PS3. I can't put the game pad down and Super Mario Bros. U is so much fun.

So much fun!

The Wii U has an easy and user friendly set up and a nice list of game titles that are fun for multi-generational game play. Our family already had several Wii-motes from our original Wii, but otherwise that would have had to have been an extra purchase that would have to have been made, because the Wii U system does not have even one included, but it did come with an HDMI cable which means we didn't have to purchase another one of those.
