Yes, but you don 't need the splitter... all your doing is losing at least -3dB (50%) oif your signal strength gping thru the splitter.

You'll run the antenna coax to the Mag then coax out to the TV. I have 5 units "daisy-chained" to my TV this way.

The Mag has a coax circuit with built-in splitter that passes the raw antenna signal thru to the TV so it can tune anything it wants.

It also feeds the Mag's tuner so it can tune and record a diff. channel than the TV.

The coax circuit (and line inputs) are also amplified and filtered so the built-in splitter actually gains about +1dB in strength so your TV pic should be a little better than before.

Some people watch all their TV thru their Mags since they report that the pic is better that way.

You will be able to watch one program on one station while recording a program on another station, assuming you have a fairly new TV that has its own digital tuner built in. All TVs since at least 2007 have them. Alternatively if you have an older TV with an analog tuner only but you have a digital to analog converter box you will also be able to watch as you want.

Yes this will work for your situation. My antenna goes directly to this device which has a tuner and a splitter built in. The cable from my antenna goes straight to the input on this recorder and then from the output coax of the recorder to the input coax of my tv. I can set the tuner on the recorder to record on a specific channel and then change my tv input to anteanna and watch something else on my tv. The content from the recorder is output to the tv from either hdmi, component (red, yellow, white cables), or s-video.

Yes, that is exactly the sort of thing this is great for. You would just hook it up the same as the Panasonic and it would work the same way. You do have to program it for the shows you want to record just like a VCR, but it is easy to do and doesn't cost you anything every month.

Will I be able to watch one program on one station while recording a program on another station? This is all I want this for.

It's hard to tell if you're using your newer 535 (500GB) unit with cable or antenna, but just a couple of things to try:

1. It could be a copy-protection signal in your cable(?) feed, which can cause recording devices to do some weird things (too many to mention here). Not much you can do except make sure you're recording to the HDD, not a DVD, since DVDs are more sensitive to CP.

2. Turn Progressive Scan off. It only applies to a component RGB connection and can cause pic problems with some TVs.

3. If using HDMI, make sure HDMI Control (CEC) is off to eliminate any possible interactions with your TV while recording or playing back.

4 If no joy, return to a WM store and tell them it's "defective" to assure getting your entire purchase price back, including any shipping charges.

I have not had that problem.I did not use the HDMI cable I have the standard 3 probe ones connected but I may not have had it long enough for problems to . show.Maybe a dvd disc cleaner will help.

I can only answer the last part of your question, it will record & play OTA ch's.

I am not clear on what your question is. If you are trying to copy certain cable digital stations (HD) etc, most recorders have a chip in them that will prevent copying movies to the hard drive or the dvd. Movie companies have made this feature mandatory in most of today's machines.

I have two 500GB units, one which I have had for a couple of years and the other purchased recently and have had no trouble with either one. You don't describe the problem so it's hard to speculate. I doubt if you connected the two via a coaxial cable (you mentioned HDMI), which would have been a problem in that the coaxial output is only a throughput from the antenna. I have a plain Magnavox DVD recorder and none of the three have ever given me the slightest problem. Bad luck?

Hi! I have the same problem only if I record in HQ mode.

I have a similar problem. I bought the 500gb unit last August. About once or twice in a hour long program, there is an audio dropout lasting about a second. I have not been able to correct the problem. I can live with it, but I'd like to find a solution. I also find that the picture jumps quite a bit using the HQ speed. So I stick with SP.

You can record over the air broadcasts. There is no program guide you must subscribe to. You manually program the the recorder to record the desired channel at the desired time and day or date. Easier to program than most of my old VCRs were.

No, but you do have to manually program the shows you want to record just like you would with a VCR. You can set it to record the same time frame every day or every week on the same day or just one time.
