From what I can tell it will till about a good 5-6 inches without moving dirt out of the way to get deeper. You will have to go over a spot more than once for it to get the depth but it really is a lot better than digging up the ground with a shovel. We have a lot of clay in our soil where we live at and it&#39;s doing a great job. Though it might be easier to use it on dry clay than wet.

The tines are maybe 7 or 8 inches and it won&#39;t go deeper than the shoulders of the tines. It probably wouldn&#39;t break up your clay soil unless it was worked already.  My soil has a high red clay content to it also. The way I&#39;ve used it is shovel the soil into my garden cart and use the tiller to break up the clumps right in the cart. It works great!

Yes, the rubber tips are to be removed before use.

Do I need to Remove the Rubber Black Tips on the bottom of all 4 Sharp Tines before I use it?  Or are they supposed to stay on?

How deep does it till and can it till red clay soil that we have in Bermuda?

if you have raised beds, this tool makes it much easier to till and work in compost without bending over. last season, I used a shovel. my back was sore for days! I'm a female senior citizen, and this tool was easy to handle and use for my small garden beds.

great tool for raised bed gardening

I am an 80 year old woman and have difficulty pulling weeds by hand and/or kneeling and bending.
This works great for loosing and uprooting sizeable weeds plus it loosens ground for planting my flowers.
I show everyone and highly recommend it. When I ordered it from Wal Mart I had it on the third
day.

Oh my gosh this has been a lifesaver! I've been turning sod to put in raised beds and tried breaking up the clumps with my garden fork. I thought this tiller might be easier to use and I was right! And it is so lightweight I don't end up with sore shoulders after a long day using it. I would definitely recommend it.

If you garden, buy this!

I bought this tool after much consideration on the type of tiller I wanted/could afford.  Walmart had it for the cheapest price on the web! Ebay was selling it two to three times as much! This bad boy has, so far, helped me dig up several tree saplings and some weeds. This tool will save a whole bunch of time and back break on our gardening and lawn needs. Granted, it will take time to build up the upper body strength to use it for longer periods of time, but if you start out with the smaller projects before going all out on your bigger ones, you'll be a pro with it in no time.

Borrowed an older model Hound Dog Garden tiller and loved it.  This one is good but the handles are not as padded as they once were but works the same.

I love it. Works great for getting up grass and weeds.Easy to use as well.

I do alot of weeding and found this cultivator does a great job. A real plus that you
are breaking up the soil so oxygen can be used by the plants. Nice size for any adult.
Down side. Only thing I found is the 'foam' covering the handles were shot on my
second day of use. Used electric tape for a quick fix- But will now look around for
some type of sleeve to fit over the metal handles. I had my shipped to me from
Madison, Wis as the Wal. stores in Northern Wisconsin do not carry it. I guess they don't
think we do any gardening in our area ( out numbered by the cabin folks or tourist??) Shipped within a
week- early then the store invoice projected. Can't beat that. Wall

Great cultivator!

This may be good for a male, since I am a female and pretty strong...I literally had to jump on top of this to get this to penetrate soil. It took a couple of turns to get weed, but not root.

I bought this game tiller today to try and clear an area Garden within 35to 40 minutes of use I had bent all the tines in the weird angles pulling roots... hoping walmart honors the lifetime warranty
